Photography and Bring A Trailer
I know BaT is a polarizing force right now, but I have to say that the images of this Belly Tank Lakester that 911r posted on that site made me drool. Talk about selling the sizzle, not the steak! I think his reserve might have been a little high, considering the subject? Probably hard for even the moneyed class to forsee this as a blue chip investment in our current climate. But the photos!

Spectacular Batman lighting! I’m sure the seller hired a top-notch pro. A lot of effort went into the location, too.

That is art for sure, but it'd be nice to include a few pictures as it'd be seen to the eye when out filling the tank at a gas station.

If I'm spending that kind of money on a car I can't see in person, I'd sure want pictures with more natural lighting so I can see what I'm buying. I've always thought the pictures on BaT should document the car more than be an exhibition of the photographers talent with a camera. Save those for an art show IMO.

Then you have the sellers that overload their auction with hundreds of photos, many of which show the exact same thing from just a slightly different angle. Yes, the details are important to show, but ten photos of the same turn signal light are a bit much.

I think it'd be interesting to see how the photo's would change if they were limited to say 50 of each car.

I sold one car on BaT and they let me take my own photos. Since then BaT is now sending professional photographers to photograph the car for you before listing. My buddy is going through their listing process right now and they required he use their photographers. The car his is listing is unique but not high dollar.

That's interesting. I used to be on their list of photographers but only got one job out of it so I got off the list.

Yes, those are nice shots, but did he really need 330 pics to show all the important details? Many are of the same thing, just a bit closer, or from a different angle.

You should look at the photos from the last time it was listed, (and sold), on BaT. They are waaay better.
I have zero respect for the seller 911r, he gets some cool cars but after that Pacific Blue 911SC with the obvious collision damage, he is nothing but a scumbag used car salesman. His photos are designed to bamboozle unsophisticated bidders and it works well. |

Front wheel tubes replaced in anticipation of sale. But not the rears? I guess he’s hedging his bet if it doesn’t sell.
Also, I wonder about a car that holds more water than gas. 2 vs 6. ![]() |

If you want to have some fun, imagine yourself in the cockpit. The instrument panel is directly in front of you at your chest, knees are up in the air as high as you can get them (note the placement of the foot pedals) between two cross bars and the steering wheel is in between what little space is left between your knees; you're going for 150mph with that un-suspended bracket and you and your body will be meeting up-close and personal with what's left of that front axle at the crash scene if you don't do everything just right or if some bit of 1950's safety technology doesn't meet expectations.
