McQueen affiliated T70 on auction
https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1965-lola-t70-spyder-mk1
Not the most beautiful version but really well presented and well, Steve McQueen, Sterling Moss... |
Not enough zeroes in my bank account...
Heck, I wouldn't even be able to afford the auction fees. |
"This Lola is offered fresh from a recent restoration, wearing a new body and chassis"
and "A period-correct Ford 289 block and heads set formed the basis of the fresh race engine" Grandpa's axe comes to mind. You know the one that he has had for 60 years. It has only had five new handles and three new heads! |
It seems if Steve McQueen or Paul Newman walked by or stopped to look at a car it get mentioned in the sales pitch.

Stunning car imagine it might get into the Rolex Monterey Reunion even though it has no racing history in the US.
|
That car would look so much better if it were British Racing Green instead of white.
|
Beautiful car.
Maybe I'll buy it when the race track on my 10,000 acre ranch is finished. |
Visually, at least, I do love T70s, whether closed or open. I'd be tickled pink to have that. And while it's not cheap, it's not THAT expensive (in the scheme of classic racecars)

You guys may beat out the UK man-cave thread when you post more. :D |
Did not sell at auction--most likely did not meet reserve. Was at $220K this AM when I last viewed it.
