I’m back in the air cooled world with my ‘69 Classic Beetle sedan

Meet Otto. I bought it today from a couple who has owned it since 1981. I have full service records from them. The paint is faded and the interior needs attention but it runs very well. I drove it from from San Francisco over two bridges in rush hour traffic. No drama. Can’t wait to start the restoration! I got a few thumbs up while in the city.

Wow - super nice!

Love the name "Otto"!

Reminds me of the "Big Otto" balsa control line airplane I flew back in the 60's!

Also - love the Boxster S matching colour!

Do you know what the original factory colour was?

Nice also having all the service records.

Congrats!!!

I don’t know the original color yet but I will decipher the serial number plate and find out

So many bugs and buses in the city, it’s crazy

69 is a good year. Fairly modern (yeah, I know) pre Superbug. I never liked the enormous taillights of the super beetle. Good color, too. Gonna need a few more pictures of that car.

Great... Please don't over restore it. Think "Clean and Original".

It still has black plates, too! Is that the original license plate frame? What dealership is it? It doesn't look like Dave Rasmussen in Burlingame. If it was, there's a good chance my father would have sold it.

Enjoy!

There were many great print ads over the years touting the mighty Beetle.

Definitely will not over restore it. It’s going to be a driver not show car.
