What is this car?
Visited the Motorama Automotive museum today. I forgot to ask Tom what this was.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1658967839.jpg And the entire reason for the trip. Tom has a pair of unused Firehawk decals. I can't have them, but I can take pictures of them. I need to get some made. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1658967857.jpg Maybe I'll upload more photos when I get home. Internet at this hotel is Sloooww. |
What is it? A hideous kit car
|
That may be the worst kit car ever made…
Wow, is that thing ugly… |
I think that is numero uno in the WTF is this car category. (Why th' fuuu)
Can't say the designer was afraid to try new things. I sorta like the windshield. And tandem seating is going to be huge in the future. Just you watch! Is that the emblem? There could be a "hawk" in the name! |
A 962 was sodomized by the wienermobile, still managed to conceive but couldn't afford to travel to another state.
|
What an abortion
|
Did you get any photos of the row of cars behind it, I like every single one of them.
The red one, that guy should have stuck to building boats. |
That's the prototype for the IL-500.
"IL" as in Iron Lung. |
That is a four wheel metaphor displaying the social and moral decline of humanity.
We are doomed. |
That's a Parking Lot Roomba. Sales never took off, fortunately.
|
When mediocre engineering skills meet mind altering drugs bad things happen . Wow that is one ugly car !
|
Who cares about that....there's two, what appear to be, Alfa 2600's in the back of that pic.
|
Dunno, but I've seen better fiberglass fit/ finish on a Walmart kid's pool
|
I would be interested in it....if it had windshield wipers.:)
|
Wow, a lot of fiberglass hate here.
The place was originally called Alfa Heaven, a Alfa Romeo salvage yard. But towns hate salvage yards, so he got rid of most of the junk, and what remains is now a 501(c) museum. There's some cool stuff, there's some old stuff, and a few old race cars, which was my interest. He raced Alfas in Imsa Firehawk, and has cars in their original livery. That's what I wanted, photos and measurements of original series decals, including the fire chicken posted above. I also got a lot of stories, of 30+ years of racing. Not much for Porsches, he had a bunch of 356s, said he sold them to a guy from California who is still selling them off. Here's a 914 for you all to lament over. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1659055892.jpg |
Does Tom still have all of his Nisson/Electromotive IMSA engines?
I saw Rippie's Stradale a couple of weeks ago. |
I don't know. We weren't permitted in a couple of the buildings. He said there's stuff in there that he will eventually sell, and he can't mix that with the museum pieces. If you recall the pink and white Stradale SSZ that was on Bring A Trailer a couple of years ago, he talked the new owner into donating it to the museum. It's disassembled right now, the bodywork is in one building, the running gear in another.

Nothing wrong with fiberglass, it is more the way it is arranged on that car.
