Porsche Honda K-swap

Has anyone seen the Honda K-swap.... looks like crazy power to dollar ratio.

Here is a NA one. Interesting. All in, wet 2180 lbs. 1979 SC, glass bumpers, wide body.

Not mine but I did get a ride in it. Very quickly it was evident how much less weight was in the rear, surprisingly nimble.

280 hp and all sorts of rpm! The engine even sounded good and not like a honda fart can. Plenty of nice induction sound with the ITBs.

This fellow bought the car without an engine. Occupationally he builds performance Hondas.

This one went from Chevy V8 conversion to a Honda with a Garrett turbo.

Well it’s more creative than an LS swap, I’ll give you that. I bet that thing sings with the ITB induction.

Oh wow, you're on a roll today.

Had not heard of this.

I love the sound of a well tuned Honda engine.

It would make an interesting car.

Not sure I'd spend dollars on this up front just to do it. Probably only something I would do if I owned a 911 and something went massively wrong with the engine.

I have a very pedestrian, zero provenance '82 Targa I am making plans for.

Very few options are off the table. I would prefer to be able to return the car to original status mechanically, for instance.

Starting homework now.

That inline 4 looks huge compared to the depth of the Subaru flat 4.

I'm constantly noodling around on autotrader putting parameters I want in my next car, price, horsepower, etc.

Much to my surprise the Civic EX-T popped up.

Looks great. I would consider it if I had a car and no engine.

Subaru is alot more expensive. Boostedboiz actually swapped a honda into a blown up wrx and call it the hondaru

How does this Honda K engine in this straight latitude position connects to the transmission that hooks up rear CV axles?

What does the transmission look like underneath carriage? same Porsche 915 or Honda transmission ??

And how does it work with "banana" rear axles (hub) to CV joints from the Honda K engine/transmission?

Does this requires heavy modification/fabrication on Porsche body structure frame to accommodate more "room" for installation Honda K engine?

Would love to hear some more info. on how this set up works with all components connects to the Honda K engine to make it drive able.

Anything that raises the center of gravity is good. . .. oh, no, wait...

VW did a similar thing with the vanagons - putting a straight4 where a flat typically lives. Even there they tipped it at an angle (rotated wrt the crank line) to lower the overall stack height.

That vertical installation ...

look at this picture with the knowledge that the top of a 911 engine (the metal bulk) is flush with the top of the rear bumper.
