Got me a big ol' drum today...
Between 36 and 37" in the dark with a flashlight and a tape measure and an uneven surface.
Took 'em on a small blue crab sans claws about 18" under a small bobber (just to keep track of where mr crab was) ![]() My bridge net is 32" diameter hoop on it... second pic shows his tail even with one side and a good bit of his face hanging off the other.... ![]() ![]()

Yup, Shell Mound archeological site in teh Lower Suwanee National Wildlife Reserve, not too far from Cedar Key Fl. Old North Florida.
Dunno, I think so (I've seen plenty of others caught by folks happy to eat them) but I don't eat fish (caught and had to clean waaaay too many bluegills when I was 5) but I did bring him home and filet him. Buddy that went with kept a good size hunk, I've got about enough for dinner for 5 or 6 folk, and I'm delivering head and carcass to a person I know who is going to use it to make fish stock. Some should be getting fried and broiled tonight, I'll poll the tasters ![]()

Drum is tasty. A bit oily, but excellent in a sauce like etouffee.
