Back in 72 a jewelry store in Seattle was displaying 5 Gold nuggets that were larger than a 1/4 lb stick of butter. Presumably they came from Alaska.

During the CA Gold Rush several 150 lb Gold nuggets were found in the diggings right around Chico, CA.
