The original Sandy Frank "Battle of the Planets" from 1979, which was imported to the USA from Japan, can be said to have been the genesis of anime. The series was literally called Science Nina Team Gatchaman, and was originally created for a Japanese audience in 1972. Way before Star Wars, which it resembled what with the space bases and laser battles.
Now that stuff I "get". Super cool. But the later video game looking stuff is like WTF for me. OTOH, if someone were to reboot the story for a modern take, it would be frikken awesome. BTW, someone needs to do a reboot of Frank Miller's "Daredevil" comics. Not the weird version that we got from Netflix, or the super aweful 2003 movie. I mean the 1980s comic series brought to live action with the super slick visuals that the comics created. ![]()

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Battle of the Planets/G-Force was **the** best cartoon of my early childhood. (Close second being Superchicken, but that's a totally different genre.). It set the tone for other greats like Voltron and Robotech.

Yes, I was a huge fan as a kid and it took over 3 years to receive it. Edit: Sorry "Ken the Eagle" https://www.sideshow.com/collectibles/gatchaman-g-1-ken-the-eagle-prime-1-studio-904321 |

All good comments!
Some of the old art is amazing with incredible detail. The new stuff with the sexy dolls has quite a large following. As said earlier and as I am discovering people will pay an easy $1000 for some of these 1:10 figures. As I do not have the original boxes, I figured that the comic bookstores would low ball me and I don't have time to deal with that, so I am listing them on eBay and they are doing quite well.

I still have a G-Force hook-ups skate deck, and some vintage Hook-Ups T shirts I bought back in the day--very surprised to see they are going for anywhere from 750-1,000.00
