Das Boot - VERY good movie. I've watched it several times. I was told it is the most realistic sub movie ever made and I'd agree.

It was the film I took the future Mrs. Robert to on our first date.
I recall it was one of the first films to use a Steady-Cam; you can clearly see this when the camera is flying through the compartments/hatches during a crash-dive scene, nary a wiggle the entire time, like it was riding some invisible rails.

Oddly enough, this was on TV today and I watched some of it while doing other things. I did watch the last courtroom scene in it's entirety and was reminded how powerful a scene it was. Really superb and deserving of the critical acclaim it received.
RIP J.T. Walsh, as well.....

Another favourite with Paul Newman. Like I said before....he was so good in all his movies..... it put them up into a category all by themselves.

My fav. scene in the movie - possible Redford's best one. Max Von Sydow's character was fantastically performed too......
