RIP. Not just a rock-and-roller par excellence, but a dyed-in-the-wool hotrodder to boot. He was one of us.

Damn. The guitarist in my HS rock band had JB on vinyl when I was in HS. Blow by Blow for certain and maybe more?

I can't say how many times we listened to that. HUNDREDS of times. That guy had talent.

My favorite songs with Rod Stewart

I am a huge fan and he was one of my influences as a guitarist. Nobody played like he did.

He came to Pomona on tour about 10 years ago, I got tix and realized that we were running the California Festival of Speed that weekend. Knowing he was a huge car guy I sent him a note and offered to give him a spin in the Porsche around AAA Super Speedway in the afternoon. I never heard back but it would have been fun.

A very good friend of mine for many years named his daughter Jody because of this song.....

Only saw him once, but it was memorable. Back in 1969, The Jeff Beck Group played the Schaefer Music Festival in NYC's Central Park. Tickets were just $3. On vocals, with his wild hair and pink jumpsuit, was a then-little-known singer named Rod Stewart. This was shortly before he joined The Faces and a couple years before Every Picture Tells a Story put him on the map.
