Arrow Tropical Depression 9 (now Tropical Storm Ian) - headed to Florida....

We've been pretty lucky for the last few years, but I figured we'd get a few this season.

Good luck to all in her path......

Tropical Depression Nine has intensified into Tropical Storm Ian Friday night over the central Caribbean Sea, with the storm starting to become better organized.

Looks like you may be busy afterwards Baz.

A few new trees required by your clients.

I hope the roof stays on the new pergola.

I used to live in SW Florida...Naples, Ft Myers, and my first home in Lehigh Acres.

Moved over to this side in '95.

Doesn't matter where you live in Florida....eventually the storms find you......

I have friends on the gulf in Nokomis. They think it'll skirt them.

Thanks, Bill.

I bought some extra ratchet straps for my metal roof canopies and some large eye screws.

Semi-retired now so those folks will have to hire someone else...

I hate to say it, especially with what YP and others in Canada just went through, but I started all of mine today, did load checks and made sure I have plenty of non-ethanol gas.

What our Hilton Head Plantation POA sent out to us here on Hilton Head Island. I think they’re just expecting a lot of rain from it here:

HHP Weather Alert: Tropical Storm Ian
9/24/22

Tropical Storm Ian is forecast to turn into a hurricane and may affect our area next week. Ian is still too far out to accurately predict its impact on our local area. However, keep your vehicles fueled, make sure prescriptions that are low are refilled, and review your hurricane plans just in case we need to act on Ian’s chosen path.

See the latest from the National Hurricane Center below.

OVERVIEW:
Tropical Storm Ian is forecast to strengthen as it moves toward the southeast Gulf of Mexico over the next several days. Later this week Ian could approach the local area.

TIMING
The greatest impacts are likely to occur mid to late next week.

HAZARDS & IMPACTS
Uncertainty regarding the track remains high, which is critical in determining the exact impacts to southeast SC and southeast GA.

Siht Baz, hunker down and ride this out. Best of luck to you, pal. Do people evacuate when something like this about hit land? I have never have to go through something like this. Nuts.

^Depends. I’m on the east coast south of Baz, unless things get dramatically worse, I’m staying home. Only issue will be how much fuel is available for the generator. The tank gage is unreadable and refill is scheduled in over two weeks.

You too, stay safe. I watch utube vids and there are all kinds of stuff flying through the air, roofs get ripped out and the ocean gets dumped into the streets causing all kids of flooding. It isn't like a tornado's pathway which is narrow compare to a cyclone or whatever its called?

I'm just hoping that my property mgt. company has schooled the tenants at our place in Punta Gorda on the deployment of the accordion hurricane shutters, and that they have the good sense to bring in the stuff from the pool cage. I'll find out on Monday.

Looks like the center of the track takes it into the big bend area of Florida. I am just inside the cone here in Bama.
Keeping an eye on this one as it will be over very warm gulf water for a long time.

I remember hurricane Elena in 1985, we lived in Niceville, Florida at the time. My Dad had a bus charter company and a few family members loaded up on one of the busses and we all headed east because the hurricane was headed in our direction. We learned at one point that Elena had started heading east so Dad turns the bus around and we head back home. My family members were from the Mobile area so they all went home as well when we got back to Niceville. I remember staying out late that night partying and my Mother woke me up the next morning saying the hurricane had turned and was heading back in our direction. So, my Mom, Dad, myself, and our Chihuahua got back onto the bus and headed north and rode out the storm in a parking lot in Brewton, Alabama. Elena made landfall near Biloxi, Mississippi, so that one zig zagged all over the place showing that ya just never know with these storms, steering currents weaken and they start to wobble around and can head off to anywhere.
