Cleaner for Granite Counters

Gotta throw this out to the collective. I know it was probably discussed previously but I cannot find an answer.

I need a recommended cleaner for granite countertops.

Thanks in advance.

I use any plain old degreaser that I also use on the glass top stove. If it's real bad, I'll then go over it with Comet and a Scotchbrite pad.

Just did this. We used some three part "system" that Home Depot sells. The final piece is a polish I believe - my wife did this so I can call ignorance. But, it is VERY slick after. My espresso machine moves when I twist on the portafilter.

We did this mostly to restore shine.

No idea if there is a stain.

Soap and water for cleaning. Are there problems? Polishing is a whole 'nother subject. Granite is some hard siht. I polish marble sometimes in restoration. It's a wet sanding process that takes you into grits with 3 zeros.

Thanks all, no real problems. Just getting used to the new counters.

Cheap Vodka. 91 proof rubbing alcohol

If ours get dull and hazy, it's always too much soap used to clean them.

I just use rubbing alcohol. But we did have a problem with cracking along the sink line. Had a granite guy come out for repair..

It's freaking rock. Options include a window cleaner like Windex, or a wet rag, or a few drops of dish liquid and a wet sponge, or granite cleaner. We redid our kitchen 14 years ago and the granite looks perfect witbiut having used any sealers or special cleaners.

Harsh cleaners will stain/discolor the granite!
I use the Granite Gold 3 step system 1-2 times a year: Cleaner, sealer, polish.

Here is some expert advice.

I use warm water and Dawn dish soap and once dry, I reseal it with DuPint StoneTech Professional Maximum Bulletproof Sealer every 3 - 4 years.
Has anyone tried to repair chips in their granite?

We wipe/wash daily with a cloth with soapy water. Use a spray "granite cleaner" weekly. Looks great.

Cheers

Same as I use for cleaning the glass on my cars, a blend of Isopropyl and Distilled water blended 70/30. Used in combination with cheap microfibers from costco for the granite and a high quality non linting microfiber for the glass.

In fact we use the same combination to clean many of the surfaces in the house as long as they are compatible with the Isopropyl.
