Born "down river", I grew up in the Detroit area during the height of Motown music. ("What is this "beatles" that someone mentioned...?)

In addition to the Temps, 4 Tops, Marvin Gaye, Isley Brothers, Martha and the Vandellas, Gladys Knight, etc. I was a big fan of Aretha. Heck, I even remember hearing Rev. Franklin's sermons on the radio - damn that man had a voice.

And, yes I know that Aretha Franklin was not on Barry Gordy's Motown label, but she was a Detroit native and, as Barry himself said "she was part of my family...".

I still listen to the SiriusXM "Soul Town" channel and get flashbacks.

I had the great opportunity to see The Temptations in Ojai a few years ago, in the before times,
We didn't even know they were there but the guy at the front desk clued us in.
A short walk later we were witness to an incredible performance.
Otis Williams was the only original member, but they rocked.

My only regret was that they didn't do Ball of Confusion.
