Don't forget to claim it as income. :D

If only everybody in the USA would send me $1....

20 years ago they sent me a buck and a survey, and I was bored enough to fill it out and mail it back in the postage paid envelope they proved.
A few months later the sent a follow up, and asked if we would be interested in being a Nelson family. They would pay for any repairs of the VCR (remember those) or TVs we have if there is an issue, and they paid us some small stipend each month, not much. They showed up, and took the VCRs apart, and installed some monitoring gizmo to record what we watched, and what we did NOT watch. That lasted for two years, and they came and took the stuff out, and put us back to before. I can tell you I never watched (and still don't) any "reality" TV, or soap operas, or cartoons. I did watch a lot of the History channel back when they had historic shows the science channel, and discovery and not the garbage on now of ghost, bigfoot, and UFO shows. I guess I was a minority, as the history channel almost never shows history, the science channel shows very few actual science shows, just drivel about supernatural poppycock. |
I threw mine away without opening it. Best buck I ever wasted.

I heard Nielsen owns Deja Vu Showgirls. :D

Ha! I got richer than that a few days ago when I found $7 while taking a walk.

A dollar. That's big of them.
A few years ago I was in a paint shop and saw a stunning young woman. She came over and said "I'll give you $20 to talk with me for a couple of minutes." Bargain. I'd have given her the $20. Just a few questions about choices of paints and why. Then I got invited for a wine and cheese (lots of wine!) evening to watch a few TV adverts. I think I got given about $200 for that. |
I worked for J.D. Power and Associates for over a decade. Dave Power would tell us about how he started in the late 60s, he and his wife Julie would glue nickels (remember Mucilage?) to paper surveys before sending them out to people who recently bought a new car.
When I left in 2013 we had a mailing unit that regularly ran through several million dollars of singles a year ($5 apiece for some of the new car purchase studies). Fun times. |
I just got a survey from Indiana University O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs in regards to the natural gas pricing.
Not much in demographics. $1 bill attached to the mailing and a $15 Target E -Gift Card if survey completed. Questions consisted of what gas appliances I own and approximate monthly bill cost since December 2022. E-Gift Card was in my email in less than 5 minutes. Its legit. |
I got the same letter and buck, and if I went on line and took the survey I would get $10 sent to me. Have it done it yet for the $10.

I remember one time somebody was sending out 5$ bills my frugle neighbor ripped it in half and saw the bill sticking out he brought it to the bank and they gave him a new one. I think it was one of his proudest moments.
