And for some common sense 😋
Never heard of "Grants" before. I'm guessing either regional or before my time.

I did have a kodak 110 camera.
I've only seen photos of in car record players
Monkey Wards was a great place to buy appliances, at least, towards their end.
When I was a kid in the mid 70s I used to love to put the green stamps in my grandmother's stamp books. I remember going to an S&H to redeem them.

Turning the TV dial with a pair of pliers because the knob fell off.
The UHF dial.
Having 5-6 TV stations to choose from, in the larger cities.
The TV remote making that metallic pinging sound.
The youngest child in the room being the remote control.
Channels signing off for the evening with the Star-Spangled Banner then the test pattern.

For those of us in LA, the Helms Bakery truck.

Carbon paper.
A mimeograph machine.
Only being able to go as far away from the phone as the cord would allow.
Having to go to the library to look at books to do research.

UHF, VHF+UHF being 5-6 channels, youngest (only in my case) child being the remote, channels signing off. All check.

I think our first remote mostly just clicked, BUT... If you opened a beer/soda can that made the "Ttssshhh" or sneezed loudly, that often resulted in the channel changing. I think our next TV w/remote used IR. I think technically, we had a TV that was "remote controlled" and the remote was actually connected to the TV by a wire. I don't think it got used much because having a wire running from the TV to the remote was a pain.

I'd never seen or heard of the bakery truck which isn't surprising because i'm not from Cali or LA, but I do remember the Charles Chips truck that delivered chips and pretzels.

Another one for those of us in LA.
The smog being so bad you couldn't see the mountains.

My 400th post in a little under 20 years here.
I gotta cut back.

ah, carbon paper. I may have received stuff in school that was run off of a mimeograph, but I've never seen or run one.

I have spent plenty of time in libraries for school.

you don't remember that?

edit- maybe it was just local number. I thought it was everywhere. Date and time. "At the sound of the tone the time will be..."
