BSA National Jamboree
Any Pelicans attending at the Summit in July? It would be nice to meet up, I'll have some patch sets to trade!
|
I was there...well, Valley Forge 1957. Still have my old jacket, it's back covered with patches. No, nothing for sale.
|
My brother went, also Philmont, he made it to Life Scout, me only to Star Scout. I still have his pack basket for Philmont. Troup 22! I am not planning on attending. Have fun!
|
Never made it to Philmont....wish I had.
I am a member of the 'Order of the Arrow' |
Sorry, I can’t resist.
“Scoutmaster Kevin?!?” |
I still have my original scouting Handbook and Field Book.
|
^^^ I wish I still had my handbook. I also remember throwing away my canteen and mess kit.
I still have my sashes (order of the arrow, boy scouts, webelos) Also all the badges and pins. |
The initiation for the O of A was being kicked into a swampy area with nothing more than a sleeping roll.
If you weren't there on that spot 24 hrs later....you were no longer a member. There might have been some laws broken. |

Really enjoyed scouting. Both my brothers were in too all of us starting as cubs.
Virginia was great but when we re-located to Florida it just wasn't the same. Can you see my jamboree patch? :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1682904552.jpg |
I had about the same...not sure what year...prob 65 or 66
Where's the kerchief?? |
Neckerchief bro...NECKERchief.
|
We were ahead of our times....'Kerchief' :D
The rest look to be the same as I had....except I also had the hat. |

^^^ Ok...I think we were too lazy to include the 'necker' part.
I think it only took a year of so to sort that out. :D |
I wish I would have kept the flat belt and adjustable buckle.
Would be handy lately. |

Our meeting place was St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, which was right on the corner of our neighborhood, so we bicycled there. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1682907466.jpg Pipsico was the go-to place in our area..... https://pipsicobsa.com/ |
^^^ Yes...that looks more correct. :)
I remember our k-chiefs had a 'hollowed out limb' for the slider/neck stopper. Other places had silver or some kind of metal. |

My wife will be there as the Scoutmaster of the girls with the Last Frontier Council contingent. It is so much different than when our sone went in 2017.
