Too dang cold for mowing lawn.

Temp never made it to 50F and a stiff north wind today.

Had to wear lined jeans, shirt, sweatshirt, coat, scrotum hat and gloves....and I was still cold.
Makes me wonder if a heat houser like this one would be worth it for the Deere.

Need some Carhartt overalls and a parka. I get cold. I don't like it. Wind is worse.

A summer north wind is great...but at this time in MI, it's not good.
It goes right through you.

Supposed to be a good warm-up in the next few days.

68 and wind was finally done today in MN, should be heading your way.

Last time I mowed the yard I had to wear jeans is was in the 50s and windy.

I have no idea what a scrotum hat is and I really don't think I will ever own one. I do wear a large floppy sun hat with a cover for my neck.

Scrotum hat = watch cap = wool cap?

gacook 05-03-2023 01:42 PM

Wool cap...down here we call those "beanies" or skull caps.

Your yard looks great. I mowed today too but I only mow 1/3 acre here. Around 55 degrees. Tomorrow I will do 3 or 4 acres for my buddy. He absolutely hates mowing and I do not mind it and I like being outside so its a win for both of us.

Why would you mow when it's that cold. Is your grass growing in weather that cold? Our grass doesn't do much until it gets warmer (warm enough to mow).

It grows slower in this weather, but it's way longer than I like it to get before cutting.

If I wait, it just gets worse.
