But there would theoretically be plenty of time to damage oneself and alter the crime scene to claim self defense because of group psychosis or some bs. The story would be better because the remaining survivor had a really good plan that everyone detested or the group decided to do something stupid and the prevention of such was an act of self defense. That would be digging into the sociopathic side.

Unless Gil Grisham was on the case (CSI tv show reference).
Oh course there are going to be internal recording devices. It's a $250k ride and people want a souvenir.
Life of horror as a prize. Karma.

Too bad they didn't put that money into automatic inflatable balloons....

Rod Serling would have a blast with this scenario.

In the situation of the missing sub, I would take the road of live together and die together. With no real expectation - only hope - that you would be rescued I wouldn't want have to sit there with the bodies of the 4 people I had killed only to die later myself.

On the other hand, in a situation where someone is definitely going to live and the other four are going to die, I'm not sure I would sit there and wait for one of the other guys to off me.

For sure. If it was a twilight zone episode the hatch would be opened just after you struck the last blow.

Or… the others died quickly in their sleep but you get to suffer until the end.

I would think that all the exertion from the killing would use up the air faster.

I figured they had "sleeping" pills onboard if it were to be a lengthy wait to suffocate. Doubt it went down that way. Still baffled why the ballast tanks aren't attached to sub unless it simply carries weights to be dropped in emergency.

Two days and no solution.

It's like this is a unique event.

This situation could only be more fitting if the crew were "visiting" the HMS Beagle.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are actually contributing to the conversation. As such, I ask what are you talking about? What am I missing?

Probably referring to the passenger list which included Charles Darwin.

Yhere are many obvious signs of mechanical asphyxiation. Tough to cover up.

Note to self - if I'm ever about to get bolted into a sketchy science project, be sure to bring along a cyanide capsule.

Thank you.

But I was thinking more like stuffing a sock or latex glove down somebody’s throat and pinching their nose. If CO2 is already off the charts, there probably wouldn’t be much resistance.

(channeling CSI):
Microfibers in the trachea and esophagus.
DNA on the face clothes and elsewhere such as sweat castoff.
Facial bruising and scratching of the dermis around the nose.
Epithelial cells under the victims fingernails.

But if hanging in the woods, with no chair, and two bullets in the back, it is definitely a suicide.

Don't you get a bursting of blood vessels around the iris in the eye on asphyxiation?
