I lucked out on our most recent stay! My neighbour had a landscape crew out doing some work on his front yard. I managed to steal these guys for about an hour to help level off and compact both our driveway and RV pad. It saved my back some major pain as I was going to do it the old fashioned way, by pick and shovel. Arrrgggh! Best $125 I ever spent!!

We got the OK from our Strata (like an HOA in B.C.) to go ahead and fell a sizeable cedar that was impeding our view. It had a very favourable lean and came down with no issues. What a difference!

Wow. What a difference. Would they have denied you if the top wasn't dead?

Good question! The Shuswap Lake wildfire 2 years ago changed all that thankfully! Prior to that we were not able to fell any “large trees” but the Strata is now much more wildfire proactive . We can now request that pretty much any tree on common property except for old growth Douglas Fir be removed…at our expense of course. This one came down no problemo. I had to clear all felled branches and debris from the forest floor ASAP. I’ll buck the tree in the spring when the snow clears as it’s a pretty steep bank with ATV only access.

Awesome work!

What is the brand of the deck attached bird feeders?

They would be perfect here.

Thanks and again, wow!

Very nice spot with to-die-for views, well done!

We considered this but honestly, home building is not my joy. I have been involved in a few projects including a mountain house and commercial property with my dad. He just loved the process but for me it was simply a means to an end. We decided a while ago to keep one house-one spouse, and rent the vacation villa in a different location regularly.

Good to hear from you Seahawk sir! I hope that you and your family are doing well. I bought the deck hangers from Wayfair. So far they’ve supported up to 4 Steller’s Jays with no issues. If they were to give way, it’s a long way down! They definitely do help to keep the birdshart off the deck!

We absolutely love the location! Great neighborhood with lots of fun to be with folks….our neighbours are great, cuz they’re never there! lol! No, Donna and Neil are super nice but they live in Fort St. John in northern BC which is a 14 hour drive so we don’t see them very often. Still, for us it’s a 6.5 hour drive and longer in the winter. Rogers Pass in BC, which is about 1/2 way for us, often has avalanche closures to deal with as well. We got caught in one 2 years ago and had to wait 15 hours in our vehicle…not fun!!
