Yes, I agree. If I had an unlimited budget for a daily driver, that would be it. On one hand, I’m a bit sad MB has discontinued the AMG wagon. At the same time, one of those things costs more than I’ve spent on all the cars I’ve bought for myself in my entire lifetime, combined. I’m not really in their target demographic.

Dad hated a station wagon, XKE roadster when he could afford it. Silver series 2, they made a run from California to Sun Valley ID. Mom apparently saw Downhill Racer, thought skiing looked fun.

We knew when they left and they called on arrival. My sister, the smart child, gets out the old Rand Macnally road atlas, puts pencil to paper and says, They went 110 mph the whole way. Older brother looks at her work, mentions they stopped for gas and got something to eat, had to be more than 110, how long does it take to eat? They argued about it, to a draw. I asked when they came back. Dad acted like he did not hear me. Mom said she slept most of the way. At the time, Nevada did not have a speed limit at all on the highways, and an XKE has pretty long legs

Not sure if this counts as a wagon but it certainly functions as one, you could stuff a lot in the back with the rear seats down and the hatch made carrying long things easy. I had a 91 9000 Turbo that was a phenomenal car and easy to get big hp out of the little turbo motor.

This one has a Carlson body and suspension kit

"Hang on Hon, let's see what this guy's got" he floored it too and the wagon started walking away immediately. At 130 the car was smooth and happy and the Audi was a dot in the mirror. Backed down to 85 and set the cruise control. When he caught up he maintained a respectful space between us. I'm sure he was surprised (as I was) that a station wagon could be so much faster than his German hot rod. Even my wife laughed out loud even though she usually disapproves of such behavior. I guess in a straight line there's no replacement for displacement
A former business partner had a neighbor who owned a few Dodge dealerships in the Carolinas.
Fred ordered a RT Magnum over dinner and drinks, checked off everything, including AWD.
I am pretty sure that he got the last AWD as he was told that they were trying to get him to accept one without, but he stuck to his guns and it was finally delivered..
We had a exhaust system built, and a trailer hitch installed. You aren't kidding, that thing was fast, and the only reason he didn't get the fastest version of the Magnum is because he wanted the AWD.

My favorite wagon is the 94-95 E329.
My friend Neil built and raced this beast and he still has it.

Saab nine million turbo. Buddy in school had one of those, black hatch back. Incredibly capable car, fast and quick, good brakes and handling. Far more civilized than the OG grey market M3 he had, that thing was a hoot, should have sold it to me

Does a quadratrack Grand Wagoneer count as a wagon?

That's my daily. 300HP, M66 trans, AWD. It's a very capable and reliable four-season car.

Still dig wagons. We owned an '06 BMW 530XI wagon for about 8 years. Good car, horrible sun roof drains and ecu placement (near spare tire). It would get covered in water whenever the drains backed up.

I loved my 850 wagon, one of my favorite cars to drive. Sadly, an oil line blew of the cooler while my son was on the highway. It spun a bearing before he turned it off.
