Mel Tucker

Ok. I put this in OT rather than PARF partly because of my optimism. It will go to PARF eventually and inevitability, but this is not, at least initially, a political or religious situation.

IMO, which operates in a deficit mode, is that Tucker is being railroaded by Ms Whatshername.

More to follow…

I posted about the news on this thread...https://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/1144240-college-football-2023-a-3.html

Not sure how many here know about it.

Bad news for MSU...although Dantonio is back.
The big question is...The MSU board knew about it at Dec 2022. Why is it just now coming up?

Crowbob 09-11-2023 02:46 PM

Tucker submitted a rather lengthy rebuttal. This was not a short-term, spontaneous episode of a guy trying to get some strange.

He has been estranged from his wife for not an insignificant amount of time and the ‘lady’ has been 100% cooperative in escalating the sex.

OTOH, it’s between him and her. And, because of MSU recent history, he MUST be found to having been a perp of male misogyny in order to rehabilitate MSU.

I hope Tucker doesn’t collapse. We’ll see.

stevej37 09-11-2023 02:54 PM

He came forward and admitted that he jerked off on the phone with her....a stupid mistake to admit. Especially with an advocate for sexual assault survivors.
Now his $95 million salary is in jeopardy.

MSU would be better off hiring Dantonio back...imo.

Crowbob 09-11-2023 06:48 PM

He did admit it.

However, he claims it was consensual. Apparently, the relationship had been escalating with the ‘lady’s’ full cooperation and participation.

Something ain’t right.

If they end up firing him, I wonder what happens with his salary and the two guys that paid $24 million of it?
The hearing is set for Oct.5

Agree.

For starters, how does a guy get to the finish point with the other party yelling at him to stop or hanging up the phone?

stevej37 09-12-2023 03:07 PM

The Oct. 5 hearing will tell a lot. I suspect he will be gone no matter what is said.

I'm a Spartan. Tucker has been a fiasco. Why they gave him such a lucrative contract is beyond me. It does not matter if it was consensual or not, it shows a stunning lack of judgement that his behavior could reflect badly on the institution. I'm glad Dantonio is back, it lends some stability to the situation.

The fact that the school knew about it a long time ago, and did nothing hints there may be more to the story IMHO. Either that or the MSU administration has learned literally nothing since that perv that was praying on gymnasts.

Lastly....gotta wonder if D was itching to get out of the house :D. Wonder what his missus thinks of this.

stevej37 09-12-2023 04:09 PM

MSU plays the Washington Huskies on Saturday at home.
There will be a lot of talk about this during the telecast.

Will be interesting to see how the players come out....it could go either way.
I expect a close game.

stevej37 09-13-2023 03:49 PM

Lots of funny memes out about Mel Tugger.

Crowbob 09-18-2023 02:57 PM

He’s out!

stevej37 09-18-2023 03:11 PM

I heard that the hearing in a couple weeks is still on and he will get the chance to explain why he shouldn't lose his job.
In the meantime, MSU told him he will be fired with whatever he comes up with.

GH85Carrera 09-18-2023 03:13 PM

Like most thing about playing games, I had no idea about any of this until the post.

So the coach of one team of game players shined his sword while talking on the phone to some chick, and he was stupid enough to tell her at the time?

He needs to be fired as a coach on the grounds of stupidity alone. He is the man the players of the game all look up to. They need a smarter man that keeps his private affairs private.

stevej37 09-18-2023 03:25 PM

from the MSU letter to Tucker....

“During the course of the investigation, you admitted to having ongoing discussions with [Tracy] about [Tracy] providing further sexual misconduct prevention training to the university football team. During the period where you discussed further presentations, and while married, you admitted to the following behaviors:

- Commenting to [Tracy] about her looks, body, and body parts, specifically her “ass”

- Making flirtatious comments to [Tracy] in conversations that you state “happened often”

- Masturbating and making sexually explicit comments about yourself and [Tracy] while on the phone, which you describe as “phone sex” and “a late-night intimate conversation”

Wifey is currently a Spartan so this is all over the local news. Regardless of whether or not it was consensual, Tucker should know better, especially considering his position as a coach and role model. And jeeze, does he have no understanding of the recent history at MSU?
While he is not officially out just yet (the firing process has been started), the football program will likely be better off when he is gone. The $80 mil left on his contract should buy a decent replacement.

Tucker should know better,

This is why he's gone.

A lack of common sense seems to limit people's careers frequently.

C’mon, guys.

You know we’re all Seinfeld fans.

Cut Mel some slack.

stevej37 09-19-2023 11:49 AM

From all the news stories about this, it sounds like his salary dispute is going to drag out in court for a while.
$80 million is a lot of money to lose.

Yeah, but the actual source(s) of the moolah will put a kink in the negotiations. Uni won’t be on the hook. Not by a long shot…
