Michigan UP folks - yooperlites?
This is cool. I'd never heard of them. I guess they may also be called "glowdalites".
Ever seen or found any? I guess you need to use a UV light source. "These glowing rocks are known as Yooperlite, they are actually Syanite rocks rich in fluorescent Sodalite. They can be found mostly on Lake Superior. " ![]() ![]() ![]() apparently, you've got to have the right UV light.

I've never heard of them...looks like a variation of the Petoskey Stone.
I'll bet Crowbob will know about them.

I’ve heard of ‘em but somehow I always forget to take down the black light from my disco basement when I go up to the UP.
They pretty much look like regular rocks in normal light. You can buy ‘em at some of the many, many rock shops. Trolls* buy ‘em by the buckets full. *Trolls are da people who live below da britch. |
