Neat story, but wow what a lot of overblown hype. The greatest barn find of all time? Obviously that is just one opinion.
And Richard starts off calling the grandfather of all 4x4s. It is just a copy of the Jeep. Like Toyota's copy of the Jeep. Not one Land Rover went ashore on D-Day and helped defeat the Nazis. And a Porsche 911 with just two wheel drive made that same "long hard trip across the Gobi" so that trip was hardly some epic hard trip.
It would be interesting to find out what the winning bid and restoration costs for the first Land Rover totaled.
Still, it is a cool vehicle, and it is vry cool some rich dude found it, and took it to the right place to be brought back too life, and not some dude that put 28 inch wheels and a LS7 engine and paint it black and murdered out.
