The Flu!!!
Last time I had to call out for work was back in the summer of 2022 when I got covid. Went to bed last Monday night shivering uncontrollably but all went away when I got in bed under the comforters and blankets and I slept pretty good that night other than a cough when changing sides, side sleeper, and I would cough up a little congestion but nothing major. Got up Tuesday morning, or tried to anyway, had zero energy, wife took my temp and it was 102.7 so off to Urgent Care because my Dr couldn't work me in, yeah, changing Drs now also. Before leaving for the appointment took a home covid test and it was negative. At the Urgent Care they gave me another covid test as well as a flu test and both came back negative. The Dr there said the negative results were probably because my symptoms had just started and it takes "X" hours for the tests to reveal anything. He did say that my symptoms were spot on for the flu and since I had run such a high temp he wrote an excuse from work for the rest of this week and prescribed something called Duraflu, which turned out to be Theraflu, and some Flonase for my sinus pressure. At work we start our shutdown period tomorrow which will be 2 weeks long so, my shutdown began Tuesday morning it seems.
Wow, can't believe it is Thursday already, I've pretty much been out of it and sleeping a lot!!! So, y'all take care of yourselves out there. Feeling better now at least enough to write this, now I think I will take another nap. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |

I've had weird flu symptoms for about 3 weeks. Aches and pains. Difficulty sleeping and my tinnitus has turned up to 11.
No running nose or cough. Temp negligible but occasional spikes for short periods of time. I don't remember ever feeling like this before. |

I am going through the same thing right now. Slept on and off for the past two days. I am started to feel little better, just got out of a 4 hour nap. Its never good sleep since the evil cough keeps me up. I hope you feel better soon.

I’m going on my 4th week. I’ve not tested for COVID but everyone around me has it or had it with positive tests so I’m assuming I got it.
The first day I thought I was having some kind of sinus allergy attack with chills. No fever. Then slept 90% of the time for three days. Since then I’ve been having a non-productive intermittent cough and lethargy. A day or so I feel pretty good then boom! Zero energy. I don’t feel really bad until I try to do something exertional (like shovel snow). Nope. |
Lots of flu (and Covid) going around now. Half the people I know locally have been sick. I was out for a full week, then at half-strength for another week.

Christmas shopping has turned into a real chore which is so unlike me. I've always enjoyed this time of year. |
My wife's son called her tonight. He's sick, doesn't know if he's going to make it home for Christmas. She talked to her daughter tonight too, she's lost her voice, but that was likely due to the Christmas concerts. She's an elementary school vocal music teacher. She still hasn't figured out when she's coming home.
It might just be the two of us and the dogs for Christmas. The neighbor and her daughter brought us a couple Christmas cookies the other night. She's about 9 or 10 now, I suppose. That was nice. The wife has made some fudge and truffles, but hasn't started on any cookies yet. If nobody comes home, there's going to be a lot of sweets to eat. |
The zero energy thing is worrisome. It’s almost like my body complains about any kind of cardiac load. At rest, I’m fine. Good thing I’m not a 20-something athlete. It’s not likely I’ll mysteriously drop over dead on a basketball court or football field.

(Almost) my whole household has had the flu this week. The exception has been Mrs Noah, who got vaccinated. Actually, my college son got vaccinated, so he only had a mild headache for one day.
A co-worker's son was feverish for 2 days, so she took him to urgent care. He was swabbed to confirm the diagnosis. The urgent care has been full of sick kids lately with this strain of the flu, and the doc said that none of the kids seemed to have been vaccinated. Anecdotal evidence certainly, but seemed to suggest a reasonably effective vaccine this year. |

It all hit at the same time. My dryer vent is blocked up causing the dryer to have no heat unless I pull the stupid thing out, open it up reset it and get under the deck to clean out the lint. I can't be doing that now. Wife isn't happy we have a mound of dirty laundry.

Yep, got it, could feel it coming on, tried to tuff it out but after day 3 now, I've just surrendered and now letting the flu do want it needs to do while I sleep a lot

Started in the afternoon of November 19. I was out of work that entire week and the next (Thanksgiving week). The first couple of days I slept nearly all day. The third week I could only manage half days. Still have a runny nose and congestion. This week a cough developed. I feel fine but it is annoying. |
Wow. A 102 fever. I would be flying through the universe touching every star if my fever was that high. Fevers make me hallucinate, which can be fun or terrifying.
