As always, you really have a way with words, JB.

I'd say "always put your stuff in the same place." But if that was your thing, then this thread wouldn't exist.

It seems like a good idea to me for folks that frequently misplace their stuff. The fact that they allow you to have it make noise is great when it's probably somewhere in your place, maybe under cloths, a towel, in a drawer.

As a certified geezer, (over 65) I have never once in my life lost my keys. Not once. They are in my pocket or in the ignition during awake time, and in the tray for when I go to bed and they are always still there in the morning.

I carry one key for the El Camino, one for the Porsche, and one for the house. Not one has ever needed to have a battery replaced, ever!

If you lose stuff, or have stuff stolen, then yes, they are very helpful.

They are awesome. I have tagged 3 sets of keys and a money clip. They just work. Especially with an iPhone.

My wife loses car keys.
It’s expensive and makes me annoyed.

My wife has a key fob with an AirTag.
She still loses car keys. Now we can find them. Anywhere.
It’s not very expensive and makes me less annoyed.

Be me with an AirTag. Don’t be me without…

My kids musical instruments aren’t cheap. They too have them. Cheap insurance.

I just was gifted one yesterday. Question is - what to tag???

My dog?
My motorcycle?
My truck?
Other?

The bike and truck are insured, so I really don't care that much. I do like the dog. A lot. But he has only gotten out once.

They are nice and they work 'often.' It's not instantaneous etc. It'll show your keys in the house, for example. Won't show you that they are in your jeans pocket in the laundry. They can make a little noise when you are close but sometimes it's not a loud enough noise for a geezer.

Have air tags in my truck, race car trailer and race car.
If I had a dog one would be on his collar.
Luggage, keys in your car when the kids borrow it?

If you have an iphone “find my” tells you how far and what direction.
It will take me to the [insert room] in the house where aforementioned wife left keys and find them in there.

You can't throw an AirTag into your wife's glove compartment or it will tell her there is an specific person's AirTag tracking them. That's if she has an IPhone.

Tile Trackers are for Androids and I don't know if they will announce to someone they are being tracked. They probably will.

Best get a unit fit for that specific purpose.

Some great stories about air tags out there. It's a whole entertainment portal.

JB, if you lost your phone you're hosed. Well maybe you have a Macbook. Loose that and you're certified.

I’ve been using Tile for all of my sets of keys. I can make my iphone or the keys play a sound to locate either one.

I bought those years ago. It wasn't long before they stopped working.

Doesn’t sound like it would work for me. The only place I’ve lost my phone or keys is in the house, usually within 50 feet of me. I lost my best pair of glasses for months. Had to get a new pair and everything. Found them the next November when I put my winter jacket on for the first time.

In my case Grandma. My MIL lives with us and will take long walks. We put Air Tags on her house key so we can see where she is off to.

Anytime we travel an air tag goes in each luggage.

When my son was young we put one in his school bag (now he has an Apple Watch, we track him through that)

When I drive my 911, I hide an AirTag. . . well never mind where I put it. . . in the car, just in case.

If you are prone to misplace keys, I would use one.

I had a jeweler's loupe missing for years. It was in a box of screws that I later had need for. Something is always in that category, missing in plain sight.
