1/14 Nikko Magnum RC
I got this thing around 1989, bought it as a toy for my birthday. I remember going to KB Toys in the Santa Rosa Mall in Ft Walton Beach and buying it and then walking to the Radio Shack store in the mall and buying the battery pack and the charger. I've had lots of fun with this thing and would try it out every now and then. The other day I found the charger in a box so I charged up the battery, (which is the original battery), charged about 14 hours, plugged it up along with fresh 9volts in the car and controller, turned it on and I'll be danged, it works!!! The rear tires are flat spotted, the body has lots of battle scars, and it isn't particularly fast but it was fun terrorizing the doggie again and he couldn't stand the thing!!! I can't believe the thing still works!!! I did a little detail cleaning and tried polishing some of the scuffs and scrapes out, gonna be fun playing with this thing again.

Man that is a flashback- KB Toys. Always wanted to go in and peruse the GI Joe stuff. Toys R Us was much better for Legos though.

Brings back memories. I begged my parents for a Tyco Turbo Hopper. They got me a Nikko Lobo from Sears which was just as good (or better) but to my friends it was the Gobot of Transformers. I'm still into RC. Crazy how fast the new ones are.

Wish I still had my old Tamiya Grasshopper from about 40 years ago...
I got back in the hobby a few years ago. Some friends built an outdoor crawler course, a 1:5 gas and 1:10 scale electric outdoor track, an outdoor dirt oval, an indoor 1:24 scale crawler course and an indoor mini Z track. It is all on the back burner again now lol

Someone gave me a Newbright E-Type Jaguar that was a nice looking car, had it a short time and passed it along to my nephew when he was a kid, never had any more RC cars even though I always thought they were cool. I do however have a few RC boats.

All the messing around with that old RC car prompted me to try this thing out. I got this for my nephew for Christmas when he was about 6 or 7 years old. I got the boat, battery pack, and 9volt and figured my Sis and Brother-in-law could get the charger. Well from what I was told, they put the battery in it and it had a little bit of charge so they played with it until the battery ran down, then it went back in the box and was never played with again. When we were cleaning out my Brother-in-law's house after he passed away, we found it on a shelf in a closet and my nephew said I could have it. Today I charged up the old battery and was surprised that it charged up so fast, installed it in the boat, installed a fresh 9volt in the controller and surprised again, it works!!! This is obviously a Radio Shack branded boat but Nikko had the exact same boat and it was called the Barracuda.
