I'll take the Kearney acoustic, the martin parlors, and the Fraulini 12 string please.

Just think. You could sit on your couch picking away with the very exact Stratocaster that he played on Sultans of Swing. And you would magically sound just as good!

LOL! Funny how different worlds have similarities. Same collecting happens with cues..pool pros often sell a cue after winning a major tournament. It becoming an almost sacred item to the buyer. To the pro? No big deal....his sponsor will make him another.

A quarter of the sale total will go to the British Red Cross, Brave Hearts of the North East and the Tusk Trust Limited.

Knopfler said the collection was the product of his 60-year “love affair” with guitars, but it was time to relinquish “some of these treasured six-string companions.”

Yeah, for sure, capitalizing on the space between the notes. Making it look too easy.

I so wish I'd seen Dire Straits in the early years. My only concerts were "On Every Street" and when he was touring with Clapton. Good shows, of course, but the magic of those early years was what made the legend.

"Sultans of Swing" gets plenty of (totally deserved) recognition, but that opening riff of "Money for Nothing" is one of the greatest of all time.

Mark Knopfler has the most incredible ability to play lead lines fingerstyle. Stuff you'd swear was being attacked with a pick.
That, and (mentioned) a great understanding of space between notes.


I wonder what his 14 fret 37' Style-O will go for, if that day ever comes.
