Work was just too much, left no us time, so to fix it for this year, Mrs Ahab and I have been busy

This year we've already enjoyed 2 weeks in Slovenia, have booked long weekends to Slovenia and Brussels and a week in LA/Vegas for SEMA

Just now booked return flights to Panama for 2 weeks driving around, exploring, including a short 2 night break to Cartagena, Colombia
.

Panama will be fun....lots to see. People are all friendly. (they were when I was there)
Their currency is the America dollar...makes it easy.
Hopefully you aren't planning on driving to Cartagena from Panama.

Not too many friendlies when I was there. I also saw that you were thinking about Mauritius. I was there long ago (1980-81) . At that time it was a very poor island. 90% had 10% of the money, and 10% had 90%. I enjoyed it immensely though. There are many cultures there. The beaches and resorts are stunning. The big plus was every dollar I had was worth a ridiculous amount of Rupees. I was a rich man. It took 3 of us to carry all the Rupees of just one paycheck. I splurged in a grand fashion.

The surfing on some of the western islands is epic as is the fishing.
Lots of Ex-pats live there, putting money in their banks will smooth things and pay a decent interest rate.
In Feb. world cruisers on sailboats gather to make the "puddle jump" to the Marquesas Island.
3-4 weeks @ sea with 6 hour rotating watches, you are guaranteed to lose 20 lbs.
