Value of a Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel?

Denis, please pick up the courtesy phone .

Helping out with an aunt's estate ... don't know the year (yet), interior looks good (peering into the windows), body looks good, probably mechanically sound, but needs a paint job (at least the hood). I have no clue where to start .... just need a ballpark number....

And a buyer

Thanks to anyone who might have suggestions or insight!

I will get some pics, and more specifics later. Thought a friend wanted it ... he's gonna buy her condo (at a fair price), but I didn't know which model it was until a few hours ago. I know they are somewhat desirable ...
hopefully

Sedan? Wagon? Coupe? Wagons are a lot more but only if they are really nice. Feel free to PM me and I’ll give you my number.

Here are a couple of pics my friend took earlier:

I didn't see any dings or body damage, but the front hood needs paint

I'll get more specifics later...

On the Cravings Menu....about 8000 burritos.

If you eat 3 a day, it will last you 2666 days...or 7 years worth.

Well its an 82-85' being that it is a turbo. I sold a 83' with fresh paint for $12k about 5 years ago and a 84' 240D with 4 speed for $6k two years ago. Love a good W123! Mileage and rust will change the price quite a bit.

Well, obviously it’s a sedan which is the most common but also the best one, IMO. They sold a LOT of these cars and in normal condition, (showing their age), they are cheap. I’d need to see good pictures of the interior including the dash and know the miles to give you an appraisal. I’m not a buyer, I’m up to my ears in cars.

I bought a w123 for under $1500 from an estate in Flagstaff. 385k miles with maintenance records since new. Looked and drove better than my new chevy. Very slow though.

The turbo diesels were not too slow… 240D’s - deathly slow. People that worked at the dealer back in the day said 240D owners Squeaked when they walked…. So true.

Drove a turbo diesel 300D for the bulk of the 90s. Most bulletproof car I’ve ever owned. Horrific in bad weather/snow. It was so bad I had to use chains, …. yes chains. Car had enough at roughly 400k miles. The body will rust out long before the drive train gives out. Very few people want them now…

^^^^ Not yet ... I'm like a Doberman's tail trying to wag the dawg . I think I will be able to access the interior and grab some pics tomorrow, and I still haven't located the title (year 198?), but one of my uncles says he has been starting both of her cars occasionally. The estate process is just starting .... and I will update this thread as soon as I have more info ... probably over the weekend. Thanks all!

The titles have not been located, the pics I took (outside pics only) ... most are too large to upload, it is an '85, can't determine the mileage (yet), and my stubby Doberman tail can't wag the dawg ....

"It has good tires, but not great tires, KCBob mused... "

It's an old, tired Mercedes ... hood looks terrible .... do you think you are still interested? It's not going anywhere, anytime soon ...

Thanks!
