My HVAC Relocation Project is Finished!
It's taken a few weeks but I am finished with my HVAC relocation project
I'm going to be using my utility closet (62"x62") for a small powder room bathroom. The only way to do this is to get rid of the old HVAC unit and move into the attic. To save some expense, I did some of the grunt work myself before the real A/C company installed the new unit. i saved about $6k by doing some of the work myself. Worth it to me. My part: Build a platform in attic for new unit Install gas and electric to attic Pour concrete pad for relocated condenser Add 240v to condenser pad Add lighting to attic for convenience Remove all old ductwork which will be replaced with insulated flex duct Some Photos of my Project: ORIGINAL LENNOX SYSTEM: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712859384.jpg BUILT PLATFORM FOR NEW UNIT: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712859446.jpg REMOVED OLD INSULLATION & RE-ROUTED SOME WIRING: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712859571.jpg ADDED ROLL INSULATION UNDER NEW PLATFORM: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712859746.jpg FRAME NEW RETURN VENT IN HALLWAY PLUS ANOTHER IN BREAKFAST ROOM: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712859810.jpg FINISHED RETURN: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712859890.jpg ADDED LIGHTING IN ATTIC: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712860002.jpg ENLARGED ATTIC OPENING TO 32X32 IN BREEZEWWAY: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712860077.jpg |

Very nice work. I've thought of replacing my own AC. Partly to save money but also to install everything the way I want without cost or time restrictions.
I found this guy's videos to be extremely well done: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/sR5wIbNrs7Y?si=1sH7gdakcQjMbIkR" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Great job TB!
I’m sure the HVAC folks appreciate you doing a lot of the grunt work. |
