An early reminder to:

A reminder: It's the last day of the month. So, on every short month, I set our watches that have a date window to the 31st. That way, when the first rolls around, I'll be in synch. Quirky, I know. Always being a stickler for time, I also set them to synch with a website showing Greenwich Mean Time, GMT. Gawd, I love quartz technology for it's accuracy. My Hamilton Quartz was only 4 seconds slow since last doing this in February.

(I'm fully aware that this habit makes me a bit of a weirdo.)

I thought you were going to warn us about daylight savings.

I figured it was about Christmas being just around the corner .... and getting yer big azz inflatables and lights up :D!

I don't want my watch to say 31 today.

No problem, make the switch when you wish. With most watches, it best to do in the A.M.

My time pieces do this for me. 1. iPhone 2. G-shock

I don’t have any of that fancy sort of arm-wear.

I do appreciate reminders though. People get busy and next thing you know you missed something like Mothers Day. Keep em coming.

What month is it?

Steve Carlton 04-30-2024 11:24 AM

Thirty days has September,
April, June, and November,
All the rest have thirty-one,
Save February at twenty-eight,
But leap year, coming once in four,
February then has one day more.

LEAKYSEALS951 04-30-2024 11:29 AM

April, come she will.

My head hurts just thinking about all of this

GH85Carrera 04-30-2024 11:33 AM

My Casio Pro Trek sets itself every night to the atomic clock. It changed to and from daylight savings automatically.

pro tip- if your eyesight gets so bad you can't see the date window, then problem solved.

I'll admit it. I don't understand what's gained. Isn't this akin to trying to lose weight by calling breakfast, dinner, one day?

You could say I don't have a problem. Today could be the 16th according to my watch.

I would expect just about anything electronic that also has a date to know the month and year, so I probably don't ever have to set the date unless said electronic item's electrons get lazy and stop moving around.

I do have a mechanical watch that is not so high end that it has a perpetual calendar, so I do have to update the date function several times per year. I love it. It was a gift, and the engineering is very cool, to me, so I wear it every day.

matthewb0051 04-30-2024 12:34 PM

I need readers to see text on a page. Dang sure can't see the date on my watch(s). I just let that ride. The one I have on now shows 20 I believe, I'll need a magnifying glass to confirm.

berettafan 04-30-2024 01:33 PM

dumb question as I never had a mechanical watch until recently- why does it matter when you do it?

If you change in the PM, most watches will change the date at noon instead of midnight. With mine, it's pull the crown out one click to adjust the day and/or date, all the way out to move the hands or hack the second hand.

stevej37 04-30-2024 03:58 PM

On the Carrera and my bikes...I never change the time for dst. It's only a couple weeks with the wrong time....not worth the bother.
