Taste like neoprene off the coast of California. Probably no need off the coast of Oz, so yeah, slow swimmer, no fur, spikes or stingers. Skin is like butter compared to a shark

From what I heard, there are no confirmed cases of an Orca deliberately attacking or killing humans.

Unless they are grumpy because they are captive...

It seems pissed off captive orcas are more of an issue than wild orcas, that is of course, unless survivorship bias is impacting the results which seems like a possibility. Also, I assume Orcas and people don't frequent the same bar, so they are fairly unlikely to get in fatal bar fights.

Given their intelligence I would not be surprised if some of the recent reports of boat damage were the result of some prior knucklehead boater doing something stupid/aggressive to a member of the Orca community.

Oh and Orca's are not fish :)

I beat up an orca once, but I don't think his heart was in it. I got lucky.

Didn't you ever see that movie/documentary Blackfish? Or does that not count because you meant in the wild?

Seriously though, I’ve had lots of close encounters with ‘black fish’ when I was commercial fishing. There see to be several pods in Johnstone Strait. One very memorable day was a 1 day sockeye opening and the school was following our boat and we caught several hundred sockeye. The school was being followed by a pod of ‘black fish’. It was actually pretty incredible. We had friends watching the show for several hours. They were not so lucky and only caught maybe 50 sockeye that day.

I guess I’m lucky to have gotten to participate in the last good years of the commercial salmon industry in BC.
