I bought an old man car
I drove a turbo few years ago and found the car to be very capable and comfortable for a sports car( OK, GT). Been thinking about a GT3 for some time but the pricing kept going through the roof. The decision was no GT3 due to couple things, ride quality, cost of maintenance (not sure if the Turbo is any better?) and I really don't track the car but a couple of DEs throughout the years. Streets are pretty bad here in LA. My Cayman S with Ohlins beats me pretty good. Talk to a few people, saw a few cars and this Turbo S came up.
I really wanted a coupe but hey I can't pass up a low mileage Turbo S. Some of the guys know the previous owner so I know its been taken care of. So I bought a blvd cruiser with the soft top. Had the motor pulled to install a plenum and Y pipe for better breathing and to look over a few things. Guys told me that the turbo cars respond to this bolt on very well. A 40 hp gain isn't uncommon. I really wanted to change out a couple rubber hoses that are known to go bad and Porsche knew that so updated pipes were installed. while I'm in there, got larger intercoolers, and radators. Took it home during rush hour yesterday. Have not been able to drive it but a couple round up here in the hill with my kids. They like the top down so far. This thing is a rocket ship for sure. It should have anywhere between 560-580 hp. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716533925.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716533925.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716533925.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716533925.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716533925.jpg |
Good score (old man LOL) I love that car. Very stylish. And being fast is always a good thing too.

That "old man car" will obliterate about 98% of all cars on the road!
"Nicely Done" ;) |

Leave it at home. ;)

I have a 2004 Toyota Echo, want to trade?

Don’t think I’ll be able to live long enough to afford one of those “old man” cars! Very nice choice!

Like most of us, I wasn't expecting this. Nice ride, and yeah, a little jealous!

Awesome!
My first 911 was an '86 cab that was black with Can Can interior, can we get a few more interior pictures please. My 996TT was a great highway car, hope you enjoy this one. I much prefer the driving characteristics of my GT3 over the 996TT. |
Wow! Spectacular car. Love the black/red interior.
Funny thing, I have no desire to have a convertible. Since 1999, I've always had topless vehicles, '88 911 targa, '97 miata, '04 MS miata, and '08 boxster S. I buy the best vehicle that gives me what I want when I'm looking for my next vehicle, and that's been something topless for the last 25 years. |
That's not an old man car! Beautiful. My 356 is an old man car. Only an old man really knows how to drive it. I had to push start it the other day. The 38 year old principal at the school I work at was so excited. He'd heard you could do it, but had never seen it done. BTW, yes, I work for a guy that could be my kid. I'm an old man!

Very nice. A friend had a similar car, it was the fastest car I have been in.
|
Is it the convertible thing that makes it an old man car?
I have always owned at least one ragtop I am thinking GR 86 for the next car, because if you are going to go to the track, you want a tin top car. |
Don't drive that on estimates. :D
|
Nice! Love it!
I just bought a young man's car: :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1716570981.JPG |

We had a 2004 X50, power similar to your S. We took it on multiple 8-11 hour drives. It was sublime. It was a six speed, broke my heart to sell it (damaged spine, couldn’t coordinate clutch throttle). We have a 2012 991 C2S PDK now.

You are going to love this car!
It does so many things well! |
