Anyone know where one can get a new NOS right side fairing for one of those red motorcycles.

My son may have dropped mine in the garage.

I made it to Indianapolis from jersey in one day on my Red R11S. That was all.

Is that the Roman Colosseum? I seem to remember it being a bit more ornate...

Went to California a few times on this, from Idaho. Does that count?

My hat is still off to Shaun. He rode that thing all the way from one pond to the other, and did it quickly I might add.

My wife has 5 older brothers.

One of them decided he was going to be Jim Bronson from the TV show Then Came Bronson, and toured the US for a while on a motorcycle, or at least until the money ran out.

Two other brothers wanted to hitchhike the entire length of Route 66 after they got out of the army. They were stuck in Amarillo TX for almost a week, because nobody wanted to give a ride to two guys with long hair.

I wish they lived closer, they have some interesting stories.

It's Stonehenge. Our own version here in Washington, on the Columbia River near Maryhill. Quite the story behind it. It was built just after WWI by a wealthy local (who also paved the first road in the US). There is a bronze plaque on each of the vertical columns, each one of which bears the name of a man who came from that county who lost his life in the war.

It's the best representation of the original that they were able to construct from what we know about it. Its orientation is such that it functions both as a clock and as a calendar, just like the original (orientation is adjusted for latitude and longitude).

It's pretty cool, really. I've been to the original on many occasions while working in Cardiff, Wales. Ours is in better shape...

It was one of my top 10 experiences in life Jeff and I owe much of it to you for creating the foundation riding together into Montana. I could not have done the trip without you.

I have to send an email to all you guys, I am going to get a new shop, the one thing is will have to hire a lawyer to pave the way for a paint booth, which isn't a guarantee but 2-3 cars a year ought to help. So I definitely won't be out in September but let's shoot for May next year unless June is better.

I'll post some pics of the trip tomorrow. God it was so ****ing amazing. Thank you!

Sorry you won't be able to make it in September, Shaun. But, like I said in my email, when opportunity knocks, it's best to answer the door. Get your new shop up and running and we will see you next spring.

June is better for me. We will be holding our annual R Gruppe Treffen in May, and I usually spend two weeks in getting there, hanging out, and then heading home.

Funny how things work out. The starter motor in my Ducati crapped out over the weekend. The brushes are essentially gone. I though "boy, good luck with this one" and started my search for a new starter, or better yet, a rebuild kit. Replacement starters for these darn things are more expensive than those for our 911's. But, lo and behold, Gotham Cycle had a rebuild kit! I couldn't believe it. It's on its way and should be here in less than a week. I'm still in shock that such a thing would even be available.

I caught some big air on a red motorcycle at the local MX track last Monday… and then I was sore… and I want an orange motorcycle like my son has now.

Of course I agree. And yet I still think we should punish him by getting together for good times and sending him the pics.

Thanks Jeff, it's both exhilarating and a little frightening. So many moving parts, so much to do. June is good with me, looking forward to it! Sorry/Glad to hear about your starter, should be a fun project and a nice sense of relief of nearly never worrying about it again.

Ha! Not coming out is definitely punishment enough. This has been a very full year so far and was so looking forward to coming out and then jumping to Oktoberfest. My gf was crazy excited about Germany.

Should I post my trip pics and story here or is that in bad taste? God that was so fun.

Yes. I have ridden a red motorcycle across the country (or much of it).....it was late summer/early fall, 1984 ( or was it 83?). I worked the wheat harvest that summer ( hitchhiked early June from upstate South Carolina to southwest Oklahoma. Convinced the owner of a Custom Combine Crew in Shattuck, Oklahoma that I really did how to drive a dual axle grain truck. He hired me and for the next three months I lived the nomad's life of a combine crew. We pulled into Mclaughlin ( or was it Mobridge?), South Dakota ahead of the wheat being ready for harvest by about two weeks. There was a local garage that also dabbled in snowmobiles and used motorcyles. I tapped into my wheat earnings ( earned but not yet paid) and bought a 1978 Kawasaki KZ 400 - and it was RED. I spent the next week plus riding all over South Dakota and chasing the local Soiux Indian girls. The harvest wound up in late September and it was time to go before the snow came. I bought a woolen jacket, face scarf and gloves at the local thrift store, gassed up, oiled up and "lit out" for Carolina. "Lil Red" served me well until a "friend" took the bike out for a spin and promptly wrecked the bike and himself. Go figure. No more Red Motorcycles ( though I have had Black and Blue bikes). That's my little adventure.

Movie night, parked and got a "love your bike man" by a couple crossing the street.

Borderlands was as bad as the audience reviews said, critics are 9%, audience is 52% which is about right. But the bike makes every trip in to the city great.
