Tracking darts for police pursuit.

First the Grappler...now GPS darts. Expensive...but worth it.

Nice, I like it!
Hit 'em with the dart. Stop the pursuit, then wait until they stop and grab them, hopefully at a location where you can snag anything else they may have that you'd want (drugs, guns, stolen property, etc..). The only way that it might suck is if they ditch one car and steal a second to continue their business, which is would probably be uncommon.

20K for the unit seems high....someone should be able to build and sell them for a lot less.

If 20k includes the "gun" then that may be reasonable. If it's 20k per dart, whoa! Holy Moly! (I haven't yet watched the video)

stevej37 06-12-2024 02:54 PM

^^^ Yeah...it's for the gun.
They didn't say how much for the darts..maybe the gun comes with a half dozen darts.

Next up...Batmobile.

What if you wrap the back of your car with Saran Wrap.

Asking for a friend.

^^^ The old 'shower cap over the back plate' might be best.

The comedian Gallagher was way ahead of the police on this. Idiot darts were his solution, shoot them at the offending car, then everyone knows.

These have GPS trackers built in.

I actually floated this with my co-workers at least a decade ago.

Everyone gets a paintball gun and X number of paintballs every year with their registration. You can "splat" any car you like, with the qualification that you only get so many per year. Best be discerning.

The state patrol are the only ones with the means to remove whatever is in the paintball. They have the authority to pull over anyone they see with a "splat". After some number "Y", it is mandatory to go to your state patrol inspection station to have them removed. While you are there, it is incumbent upon you to explain how you managed to garner so much attention. If the answer is something like "I dunno, I was just driving", you don't get to anymore.

It’ll save lives and the true safety of the public. Wear and tear on pursuit vehicles, ect.

I wonder where they aim the dart when pursuing a motorcycle?

A well-placed shot and that dart's not going anywhere.

So, I assume it would be possible to just have a drone follow and track the vehicle [emoji848]

^^^ Or stop and have a doughnut and then drive to where the car is parked.
No need for a drone.
