Unsolicited Credit card offers
Several years ago I was getting unsolicited credit card offers addressed just to me almost weekly. Evidently the laws were changed and now that has stopped. I don't get them addressed to me anymore.
However, offers to companies continue. We started a company several years ago among four partners, as a LLP. My CPA advised me we really need to have a LLC. So we filed all the paperwork needed to kill the LLP, and convert it to a LLC. That company had one client, and we ran a decent amount of business through it, and that customer decided to take the aerial work indoors. We paid off all bills and divided the remaining profits 4 ways and shut the company down. It has been extinct for over four years. That company used my address as the mailing address, as I was the agent for the state company. I still get credit card from offers from Chase and American Express to the LLP that never had a penny of business before it was closed. How in the world do CC companies select who to offer "pre-approved" CC offers? And my operating profitable aerial photo business never gets those offers. I would just shred them anyway, as we have one company credit card with a hefty credit limit, but never have a balance as it is always paid electronically on the statement date in full. We have never paid one cent in interest on that card. I do the same for my personal credit card.

Putting a freeze on my credit stopped the annoying "pre-approved" credit card offers, but I still get occasional junk calls & texts offering services for an LLC that was officially dissolved several years ago.
Last one was "We see your website could use a re-fresh. We can help". This LLC never had a website. Most annoying was when I flipped a few fixer-upper houses. Buy a house, and all of a sudden there are pre-approved offers in the mailbox. "Congratulations on your new home!" I don't live here, nobody lives here, I don't want any mail. I learned to remove the mailbox as soon as the deal closed, and I'd put it back up upon selling. |

+1. Stopped all together. Should do it anyhow as standard practice. The bureaus can't protect our stuff anyhow. Equifax should've been closed down. They ruined it for the world. rjp

I have a business CC that I pay the balance every month.
The other day when I went to log on to my checking account it started with a pop up for a credit card. The only way I saw to bypass it was to okay the terms and conditions. Then I realized that clicking okay was me approving the card which had fees and a lower interest rate. If you scrolled to the bottom you could exit the pop up. Dirty pool!

I have a freeze at all three credit bureaus on my personal credit.
It is just weird that Chase and American Express would waste the printing and postage for CC offers to a company that does not exist anymore, and has not existed for several years. When we were setting up our company, one corporate name we thought we might use was one we paid the $25 bucks to reserve that name at the corporation committee and we did not use it and it never did anything, and we did not renew it. I get offers for that company as well. I do indeed renew our company name each year. It is cheap to do, and keeps us a legal LLC.
