That’s sexual assault, plain and simple. Should have called the cops…what a weird story.

It's the wanting to retain me that was a step too far. Unfortunately, aside from that, it's not so weird if your female. For us, half the people on the planet are way stronger and way more sexually aggressive. It's why we're hesitant to ride alone in the back of an Uber or Taxi. It's why we avoid places with no one around. And it's why we don't care for cat calls. We're constantly aware that we could become the prey at any moment.

Thank you for making my point. And you sir, may kiss my a$s.

PS, I too graduated college, and even toyed with law school. Things is, I made too much money managing a team of 27 developers creating state-of-the-art software to make it worthwhile. I hope you do a much, much better job of presenting to the court than you did to me.

Once again, whatever you consider, "not so weird," doesn't factor into it. What you described is a crime and a fairly serious one. I know that Florida is a really strange place, (partly based on your posts), but it is currently 2024, not 1875. I also know countless women in many locations on the map who would not agree with you that what you describe has EVER been normalized behavior. Does it happen? Of course. But it's sexual assault.

Edit. Wrong forum.

You edited it before I could respond, lol

And there are no strange places or people in CA, lol

In the end I am just glad you got out of there Dixie.

Dixie, As a guy with three sisters, a daughter, a granddaughter and many female friends, I applaud your handling of that jerk.
Way to go, Sister!

Best

I do believe we're talking past each other. Nowhere did I indicate his behavior is appropriate or acceptable. I did state it's more common than I'd like.

Over 10% of the U.S. lives in CA, so of course there are plenty of idiots and weirdos. But not like Florida…that’s a different animal. And constantly evident on this forum.

You had to make a decision quickly (under duress), and I think there's no question you made the right one. Kudos. Fortunately, he didn't see it coming in time to deflect your punch because it could've gotten sideways in a hurry... regardless, you had to give it your best shot. Have you or any woman you know ever been in the same or similar situation and had to handle it with force?

After his text "excuse" did you reply or just block him? He sounds sociopathic and like he's not playing with a full deck... I wonder if he's tried to use that excuse before.

Be careful, definitely has the potential for some crazy stalker crap.
Yeah, be on the lookout. Depending on your "spidey sense," at some point you may decide to let him know you've told a friend and/or local police that if anything happens to you, he will be suspect #1.

While not a common occurrence, it happens to women more than men realize. That's not a knock against men. Why would men realize it? I've had complete strangers follow me home, and attempt to get into my house more than once. Were talking followed me from Home Depot and the grocery store! I've been propositioned while being ticketed for speeding. I've been grouped by unknown men on dance floors, on a and city bus, and in a Walmart isle. The list goes on, but my point is I can't imagine these things ever happening to men.

Then there's my friend here in FL. At 18 she was abducted at knife point leaving Holmes Beach. When he went to open the car door, she stomped on his foot and ran. He was later arrested and convicted.

He's 100% blocked, and I'm not replying. I want nothing to do with him.

My neighbor, a retired deputy of 20+ years, said it doesn't fit sexual assault, but battery. He said I handled it perfectly, and odds are the man likely has prior charges. He asked what I'd do if the guy shows up. I said IDK, I'm a lousy shot. To that he said, "call me. I'm a good shot."

Targa68 09-09-2024 05:45 AM

Dixie, Call Nate at LouLand in Port of the Isles. He'll teach you how to handle a gun;)

Dixie, you made me think of the line from the girl when her ex wandered back to her door.

I'm sure it does and I'm continually disgusted by just the incidences I hear about on local and national news. Beyond that, hearing about all the times it happens in our military is even more disconcerting.

I doubt if the guy will stalk you or show up at your door but having your neighbor offering to intervene is a very good thing. Having him and 911 on speed dial... well, if they can't get there quick enough, a coupla rounds in this cretin's direction ought to be enough to send him away, whether you hit him or not.

its almost like there is an inherent safety issue to dating that disproportionately effects women, and can rear its ugly head at any time in a relationship, even decades into a relationship (see also, dave grohl's news).

its a fact, not debatable, the most dangerous man to a woman will be her male partner. thankfully it happened on a second date, not a decade into a relationship ...

keep this in mind folks who think danger in dating and relationships is equal. its not.

Either practice or go accuracy by volume.
Get enough lead in the air and something will hit.
