Not necessarily. Engine assemblers make, what....#35/hr? (calculations way higher than that are padded with executive and retiree "labor" expenses). Dealer shop rates are near $300/hr. In the time it takes dealer mechanics to swap out two cylinder heads, the factory could likely assemble two engines.

Not say you're wrong but if it were cheaper to swap out the heads then they'd probably do that.

I had a 3L Ranger and a 4L one. The 4L was way better and I had an overall good experience but in my short life I have learned some things. You get what you pay for and cheaper often does not mean less expensive. When Toyota stands behind their engines and Ford does not, that tells me to buy a Toyota. Or Honda. The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweet taste of low price is forgotten.

I have only had one internal engine failure in 55 years of driving. An SC head stud. I have had two transmission failures.

^^^ Hah...same here, except it was 3 head studs on my SC. :D
No transmission failures here...yet.

And in the risks of a repair failure, and an engine swap makes more sense. Not sure where the old engines go though....

It would run great when started cold. When started hot...it would sputter as if running on 3 of the 6 cylinders. And it wouldn't clear up until cooled down.

Ford just filed for a patent on technology which will listen in and provide targeted ads on the screens in their vehicles. I know filing for a patent and deploying the tech are (2) completely different things, and there are people who may welcome this intrusion as being akin to an alexa in the car, but I am opting out. Having driven Ford trucks for over (30) years, my next purchase is going to be something else.
