Per Wayne, the spin-on oil filter is an improvement over the factory
Interesting, Project No 2 from Wayne's 101 projects for your boxster book is changing the oil, and he says that the LN Eng spin on filter kit is an improvement over the stock setup.

^This, I believe. Back in the day, there was a spin off conversion offered for both 356 and 912. A buddy ran one on his '67 912...took the full sized Ford spin on. Dunno if they're still available. But since the early car enthusiasts and collectors are into "original" these days, maybe not.
