Excellent plan.

I would only make one change: Leaving Tusla head south to the Wichita Mountains near Lawton.

I find the area fascinating

I would then head west on Rte 62 to Rte 287 to Amarillo. I really have enjoyed that drive and would do it again.

Little longer day but worth it in my opinion.

Have fun!

Thanks very much for this!

Corpus is good or Rockport. They aren’t far from San Antonio. If it’s hot, tubing can be fun. San Marcos is good for that. Enjoy your trip!

Rockport looks very promising, do you have personal experience of any hotels here? Thanks.

Yes, we plan a river trip while in BBNP, also plan to do that cool river crossing into Mexico by row boat thing and have lunch in Boquillas.

Hi all, well the trip came and went and it was great! Itinerary was pretty much as detailed nefore. Stayed in Rockport beach at the Lighthouse Inn. Beach was clean and water warm. Temps were in the low 90s. Stopped at a Bucces, Went to Mexico for the day while in Big Bend. Visited the Wichita mountains to see the free range Bison as suggested by someone on here. Tried Lotaburger in NM and Whataburger in TX. Only bummer was White Sands was closed due to Govt shutdown, but we've been there before in 1994 so wasn't a massive disappointment. Met lots of very friendly Americans along the way, who made us very welcome. Thanks y'all! Oh and I must be doing something right because no-one "blessed my heart". 😄
