I think the drivers at first will band together and ask for this silly rule to go away . They will be denied . That will leave the drivers to pick a race ........ say fuc$ you and boycott driving in the race . F1 officials need to remember the teams and drivers are the show .
|
It is a silly rule when it is real men, driving in the heat of battle. I suspect even the stupid "kids" announcing the F1 have all heard that language. F1 is not a Saturday morning cartoon audience.
|
I get the heat of battle when driving thing, but see no issue with it when they are in press conferences, why do they need to swear...
|
This made me happy this week, F1 needs more of this...
https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/articles/cjexw7v7185o Really impressed with how Haas is operating since Gunther has left the team, it's like the team has been reborn |

Read up on what he did in South Africa when he decided he wasn't in agreement with one of the restrictions in his contract McLaren were handing him. Great story. Lauda brooked no BS. |

Yikes !!

Not to be outdone, Lewis just crashed the 2023 Ferrari he was getting to know.
Oops. Best Les |
F1 already picks and chooses which radio broadcasts they share with the viewers.
Most of which are unintelligible or stepped all over by the commentators who don't know when to shut their yaps. So I say, what's the big deal? it's all filtered, if they don't want to air swearing then simply filter out the radio chatter that contains swearing. Either that or just stop sharing it altogether. It's not like the drivers ever share anything secret or illuminating on the radio (or in interviews). IF they ever did say something worth listening to, then the commentators could repeat it to the viewers without the swearing. That would give them something to say instead of their constant inane banter. |

^^^ I thought Haas also had a facility in the UK ? Maybe it is a small space vs headquarters in NC ?

Great area Les |
I'm actually just a stones throw to the north east of the Alpine dot
You can also find, The Farmer's Dog, Clarkesons pub, went last week, can highly recommend Haas and Prodrive, Dacia Dakar team are in between the Alpine and Mercedes dots Andretti Cadillac same place as Aston Martin dot, some of Honda F1, Racing Bulls F1 same place as Redbull dot |
Need to add Audi now to that UK map
https://www.planetf1.com/news/breaking-major-update-to-audi-f1-progress-as-team-announces-uk-base-plans Already a massive shortage of experienced F1 folk to go around before factoring in Williams, Andretti and now Audi expansion plans Since the cost cap era was introduced F1 pay has fallen behind other motorsport categories and high tech engineering industries https://motorsport.nextgen-auto.com/en/formula-1/low-salaries-driving-engineers-from-f1-newey,196974.html |

I need to study up on WRC, because apparently, that's where a lot of top talent went following the F1 cost cap! Here's something I only realized today; there is no longer a championship point for fastest lap in F1! This might be an interesting development this year with the possibility of up to 4 teams racing for the WDC! |
Wasn't aware of much of an F1 exodus to WRC, thought more people jumped over to MotoGP
Would love to tick off WRC from my 'to do' list |
Hmmm, yeah, you would definitely know more about that than me!!
I just did a quick search for "F1 technical exodus to WRC" and found very little. I probably just read it in a comments section and repeated it as gospel. Sometimes I shake my head when I think about some of the things I do!! |
Williams has signed a new title sponsor and changed the team name for 2025 .

Six new 2025 rules
No fastest lap point is a strange one <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rvVnoV4nuS0?si=ckrG9jfkGf4R2U5d" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I liked the animation showing the (now outlawed) McLaren flexi wings.
The fastest lap point delete makes sense to me, for just the reasons they gave. If they gave it to a driver who achieved fastest lap of the race while leading, it would be a nice bonus. To just let whoever is first in line with a big enough delta to be able to pit for fresh have it in the last two or three laps defeats the purpose. My opinion. |
Agree 100%, always thought a point for fastest lap it was the same as a participation medal schools give out to the slow kids
|
Hey Captain! Do you think Newey will be able to help AM much this year? Or will he be totally on the 2026 car?
|
Hey Reg, this years car will be mostly done, aero concept direction already set and development upgrade plan finalised etc
I'm sure he'll be more than busy guiding the team into the 2026 new rules and getting people/everything in place for a full on assault for the 2027 championship |
ESPN has announced they are not interested in being the TV station for F1 after their current contract expires . Let the bidding war begin .
https://awfulannouncing.com/racing/espn-drops-formula-1-rights.html |
^ This is really bad news for US fans since we've always been the "red-headed stepchild" of US sports coverage (no offence to red heads, I've had good relationships with a couple of them :) ).
I was overjoyed with Mother's sponsorship of ESPN coverage a few years ago with ad free races for the first time in the US. Come to find out the only reason we had US based F1 commentators was so they could cram commercials into the British broadcast! |
I hope some other cable company like Motortrend picks up that contract. ESPN often shut off coverage of the race after just the first interview of first place. Then changed to some idiotic thing like cornhole, or a basketball replay from the 1960s.
It would be wonderful for Motortrend to get the full Sky broadcast, and the interviews after the podium ceremony. |
I would be OK with NBC or CBS picking it up as most everyone has access . If Netflix or some other streaming channel picks it up that could limit access for some .
I agree when Mothers was a sponsor the commercial free viewing was nice to watch . We will just have to see how it plays out . Hard to fathom not having a quality TV partner with 3 races in the US . |
ESPN was paying F1 90 million per year for their 3 year stint . That 270 million is quite a chunk of change and I assume the price is going up . Not sure how many companies want to pay out 100 million + per year . That dollar figure will filter out some players .

I think Motortrend has problems of its own. They recently cancelled a bunch of shows from the Hot Rod lineup which were hugely popular, especially Roadkill. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/roadkill-show-cancelled-motortrend-production-studios-closes/ |

motortrend sold out to warner bros discovery, which is run by people who want nothing to do with shows about cars that ruin the planet. GOOD shows like roadkill, roadkill garage, garage squad, hot rod garage, full custom garage, four wheeler, roadworthy rescues, engine masters, etc. All cancelled. IOW most of the stuff on TV that was worth watching. There is little to nothing on motortrend TV anymore that is worth a plugged nickel. On a lighter note, WBD stock is at 10.34, down 65.77% over the past 5 years. I'll be a buyer when it hits ZERO. |
On second thought, F1 TV is good and not too expensive so I think I’ll survive without ESPN.

F1 should be really exciting this year. Having 6 rookies will really mix up the grid being hot headed, going for ill advised passes and causing yellow flags. |
OK, next question, you speak of the APP. Does that run on a Firestick, or Apple TV? What platform runs the APP. I don't plan on watching a race on my phone when I have a nice TV to use.
