Anyone ever installed a sliding (barn) door with a lock?

I bought a rental property and it's an old house with many doors. I want to convert the toilet area from a regular door to a sliding barn door, but I also will need a lock on this door. Has anyone had experience with this? It's not the end of the world if I can't add a lock as this is a small room that is part of a larger bathroom, and the primary room has a locking door.

I'm just curious what options I have.

If you just need the lock to function from the interior of the bathroom, a simple teardrop latch would work. Even a hook and eye would be functional, albeit ugly.

But if you need the lock to be functional on both sides of the door, the only thing I know of is a pocket door lock. But I am not sure how that would work with a surface mounted barn door.

Thanks. After thinking about this some, I don't think I need a lock at all. This is just a small room within a bigger room and a sliding door will be enough.

I googled "lock for barn door" and found various options from the brass hook and eye mentioned above up to options that cost $500. Most were pretty basic and were <$20 with the higher priced models being more aesthetic.

As a homeowner once asked the owner of a home building company I worked for, and someone didn’t install a door to the water closet… if you’re close to your spouse, you don’t need a door!

I hung a set of barn doors for my friend last year, and designed a latch to keep her dog from pushing the doors open and getting shoes out to chew on. (It ended up not being used because the weight of the doors meant the dog's evil intent was thwarted, ha ha!)

Picture just the barrel of a fairly large door hinge; notice the barrel is divided into three smaller loops; two loops are screwed onto the door and one loop screwed into the wall, and an easily removable pin keeps them 'meshed' in line. . I made the loops from copper sheet, I peened them with a hammer before I formed them for artistic interest, and the pin was a chrome steel thingy from some unknown device, about 8" long that was topped with a bit of forked tree branch, sanded, varnished and waxed, then attached to the wall with a length of fancy cord to keep it from getting lost when the door was open.

I've lost it because it didn't end up being used, and that's a shame, because it was really kind of cool!
