Rock on Ben Folds ....
"Take This Job And Shove It ....." ;)
This thread won't last here... His mom was one of the coolest ladies I ever worked with ... back then ... Ben played a local college bar along with his brother in different bands ... years ago. Just saw it on da news .... talented dude for sure ;) |
I don’t think he’s the only one. A lot of artists don’t like the idea of the halls covered in velvet paintings of dogs playing poker and music featuring steel guitars.
|
I would think let it play out before making such assumptions. Is Ben there for the art or is he there for an echo chamber social club? If you're there for the art why abandon it?
Even talented people can be tainted by partisanship. |

I "know" Ben well enough to know why.... the VERY first Ben Folds Five gig ... I was 5 feet in front of him ... surrounded by college chicks ... packed like sardines... 200 in the bar :)
|
I had no idea what this was about, so I did a search. It's interesting how the article titles vary. In at least one site it said that the chairman role was "siezed". Another article said that the new chairman was elected by the board.
|
WD i'll respond to that after this gets booted to PARF. (as you are no doubt waiting in great anticipation for such!)
Mas it would appear the board was shuffled to include admin favored people who then named POTUS as the top dog. I personally would've declined that honor in favor of a carefully chosen actual life long artist but as it stands i would agree based on what i see NPR reporting changes needed to be made. For reference a quick search says Fed funds about $45 million of a $268 million budget so there surely is an interest there. |

Cute slur, was that borrowed from one of the shows hosted there?
|
I don't know but renaming things seems to be all the rage these days.

I could honestly care less, but I saw Ben Folds Five in a bar many years ago, I believe opening for Weezer. Super talented guy, I liked a lot of his early music.

The Kennedy Center has received hundreds of millions in funding from Congress since 2020. Members of Congress then gift themselves luxury boxes for broadway plays.
Now the Kennedy Center says they’re BROKE. Ric Grenell is now in charge and has done some house cleaning. Some like Ben Folds and Shonda Rimes have decided to resign. Good riddance. And we just saved $1.375 million in President's salary, more to come... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1739468115.jpg |
Wtf???!!!!!

Did you find this on twitter Craig? Quick googling (detailed would be helpful) shows the Kennedy Center (2023) had revenue of $286 million with a $6 million profit See detail here. ProPublica: John F Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts googling kennedy center funding from congress "The federal government funded about $45 million of its roughly $268 million 2024 operating budget, according to The Washington Post. Private donations account for about $95 million of its budget and revenue covered about $125 million." Like I said, detailed googling would be helpful to post facts. I'm just now researching how to create a super pac so I can combat all the mis and disinformation on the web. My goal is to run TV commercial setting records straight. |

I'm cheap. I'm willing to take one of the 250-300k roles. I don't need to be one of the high rollers. |
What of the above list is misinformation?
Or do you mean to say 'so I can put a slant on any facts that might otherwise damage my team'? |
