.

Her name is Buddy.

Yeah, I like that.

I had been thinking Kat, short for Katrina.

When you say Kat, I think of the tasty Kit Kat bar. Layers of wafer and chocolate. When I think of Buddy, I think of Buddy Holly. When I think of orthopedic surgery on a cat, I think of Fort Knox.

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean. I'm looking at my gorgeous cat right now and thinking he's worth very surgery cent and ten times over.

Luckily, Denis is a wealthy man.

Haha…maybe if you count wealth in number of non-running vehicles? :)

The vet college was great and I felt like it’s the right place to take her. The surgeon sedated her and attempted to simply relocate the joint but it popped back out because the tendons on one side are gone/severed. It will require surgery and he is pretty confident that he can repair it.

The worst part of it is that he said she will have to be in a splint/cast for 6 weeks (!!). Not sure if she will tolerate that. I got her basic vaccinations done plus dewormer pill while I was there.

They gave me an application for a pet credit card that has no interest for a year, probably going to get that. I’ve been putting her other expenses on a regular one, $2k so far this week. I might start a GoFundMe for her so that anyone who wants to pitch in can. I’ll let you guys know if I do. Thanks for all of the support.

Already funded you.

The fur baby will appreciate this.

2nd in, I guess, but now nervous about giving a card number on the net...Oh well. Scritch behind an ear for me, okay?

(edit) perhaps a more clickable link...I had to cut & paste.

Hey, thanks to all of you guys! This is really a new experience for me and I'm a bit overwhelmed by it...a million thanks! :)

Denis,

You would probably get a better response if you started a new thread with the title:

"Donation request thread for Buddy the rescue cat - who needs surgery"

I realize you may think it somehow inappropriate to do such a thing but I think most here would totally understand the mission and sign on. You could put a link to this thread in the first post as well as the GFM link, to give context.

Normally I don't stick my nose in other people's business but when it comes to something that benefits a pet/animal......100% different situation.

Just my 2 cents.....and I could be wrong, but I think my heart's in the right place.

Agreed...more likely to get clicks and more donations. If nothing else, maybe enough to pay off the high interest credit card?

GoFundme is sailing along nicely, I am going to try to schedule the surgery this week and I'll keep the thread updated. As for starting a dedicated appeal thread, I really don't feel comfortable guilting people into helping me out. I appreciate like crazy the help you guys have offered so far but don't want to push it further than this. Thanks again.

Steve Carlton 02-23-2025 01:39 PM

I'm gonna have "Buddy" embroidered on your shirt. You're going to look sharp at the bowling alley!

RANDY P 02-23-2025 07:35 PM

Best of luck w/ Buddy

Oh, I do like tabby and whites. I think of my RIP one everyday. He had a friend called Rocky who looked almost identical and they would sit next to eachother (almost) all day thinking about pussy cat things, sunlight angles and what's for dinner.

My guy had long aristocratic ears too.
