I just missed Jay Leno yesterday in his Mustang GTD, he was pulling out of the Beverly Glen Center just as I was pulling in. Oh well, next time!

I so miss California car culture.

So my brother visits friends in Corte Madera a few weeks ago. I can check his location out through my phone and I used Google Maps to see where he is and look at the street view.

Then I start putting around the streets. You don't need to even go anywhere with these street view applications. We don't see these in Akron. I named the photo Hilux but I don't know the model. Mid-80's Toyota work truck.

I don't see a lot of lead-sleds in Portland. This one was driven by a ponytailed, greybeard boomer.

On this evenings walk. First series 1970 with original Feb 70 blue plates.

Same color as the 620 which was my first driving vehicle in high school.

Nice pic! I miss my 240s from 40 years ago.

Where is Denis? Does anyone know if he's ok or not?

70SATMan 11-19-2025 08:24 AM

Don't see too many of these around anymore - 80s Buick (LeSabre?).

I thought Florida had banned the Carolina Squat? Maybe it was Alabama?

edit. Nope. Completely legal to drive one of those in Florida.

CurtEgerer 11-23-2025 03:29 PM

Seems like there's a couple of them at every intersection. Beyond the handling problems, how in the world does one see over the hood

Should be a felony.

I see Carolina Squat and Squat Truck. Taildragger works but I have not heard the term.

For safety please secure sufficient lighting.
