I would have loved to hear that! Way better than those new cars with the overrun pop and crackle.

On my morning walk in my neighborhood, poor pic because of early morning sun. The guy has two entrances to his home where cars are parked inside the house. There is also a 6 car garage to the left of this door which is full.

Ural Motorcycle with sidecar in PMC. The owner said the Soviets finalized the design in 1944. Perfect example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Mopar day in the Hollywood Hills, both of these were spotted on Sunset Plaza Drive, which is more or less where Harry Bosch lives in the streaming series.

‘68 Charger, (drool), and a ‘68 or ‘69 Roadrunner or GTX:

I don’t know my McLarens very well but I like them a lot. I also like them in understated colors like this dark grey metallic because the car itself makes quite a statement.

Just now, a few spaces away from me:

That would be a '68 Roadrunner...first year for that model...pretty rare now. Had one back in the day.

Early gearhead memory…in the summer of ‘68, our live-in nanny had a boyfriend who just got home from Vietnam and bought a brand new Roadrunner. I think it was orange and a 383 4-speed with no options, he was 20 years old and needed it to be as cheap as possible. I remember him telling us proudly about how he played one dealer against another until he got a bare bones deal on it.

He brought it over to show his girlfriend and we were all checking it out. I remember that my mom was trying to be polite but did not “get” it. Boy did I get it. When it was time for him to leave, I leaned my 8 year old head in the passenger window and asked him to “light ‘em up.” He pulled out of his parking spot on the curb and left 2 black stripes for 100 yards in our quiet neighborhood. I was giddy, my mom wasn’t.

In those days, if you came home from ‘nam alive and with all body parts intact, it was like winning the lottery. A new muscle car was the most logical thing!
