Norovirus

I thought this was just a disease of cruise ships and other confined living situations - summer camps, boarding schools, etc

My daughter had a day of diarrhea, vomiting, chills, body aches, severe tiredness, then was better for a couple days, then had it again for three days. By then we’d theorized what it was, and were doing the bleach thing on surfaces etc.

I had a day of gastric discomfort, slight chills, then felt fine for a few days, today I have round two with significantly worse symptoms but - thank goodness - no diarrhea or vomiting. So either I have a very mild case or have something else.

Anyway, now that I’m paying attention, I hear that norovirus is making the rounds here, among ordinary households not on cruise etc.

Yay. Something else to look forward to.

Heal up fella. I'm glad that your daughter is doing better.

We had several people at work out with norovirus symptoms about a month ago...

Good luck with recovery, and good luck to your daughter as well.

It seems like this, or the next one, is out to get us so our best bet is to eat healthily and stay fit and strong.

I had it before. the diarrhea was epic. no cramps..but "hot lava" comes to mind.

at day 3 I got worried and went to the ER. they said, Noro-V, and gave me an injection in the butt. I asked, "how long until if feel better?"

she shocked me with, "maybe five-ten minutes"

it was no joke. I was healed. that fast. Never was smart enough to snap a pic of the drug..or ask. hahaha.. I still dont believe it actually.

The nursing facility where my brother lives got it in late November. We, my family, we’re going to do Thanksgiving with him. He called the day before we were to leave and told us that he had gotten it and that the facility was locked down. He wound up in the hospital with severe dehydration. It is bad stuff !

I think it made the rounds of our household early in the year. My 15 year old was down for three days with “stomach issues”. I was about 24 hours, good times!

70-80% of the people in this country can expect to be more susceptible to viral infections going forward.

Spray bottle with one part bleach, nine parts water. If you get the surface wipes, you have to get the bleachy ones, not the peroxide ones.

It is all about contact time. As the water evaporates and the concentration goes up, you destroy more stuff. I frequently tell people to spray this in their shower.

A big shot at one of the major drug companies says whenever he is going to be on a plane or some place with a lot of crowding and shared air, he coats the inside of his nostrils with a thin layer of vaseline petroleum jelly.

Norovirus put me in the hospital a few years ago. The virus kicked my Crohn's disease into high gear,
it closed up (blockage) my small intestine, inflammation was thru the roof. The stool test should have numbers less than 50, I was at 4000. It was an absolutely horrible week. I contracted it from a salesman that brought bagels into the office. Never going to shake anyone's hands again.

I didn't even get a cruise out of it.
