Loretta Swit passed today. She was 87.

So sad. She was great in Mash.

She was awesome in MASH ... perfect for that role.

As a 30 year USAF Medical Officer who served in a modern day “MASH” (We called it EMEDS), I salute Ms. Swit’s advocacy for veterans especially female vets. Furthermore she insisted her character “Hot Lops” evolve from a sexual object to a vital health care provider and leader within the series.

She often said Major Houlihan was a senior officer and deserved the respect afforded a field grade officer.

By the end of MASH she had achieved that goal and Major Houlihan was no longer a foil.

She also was a huge animal advocate.

Overall a great human being.

That is a great picture of her in the first post, she had something of a down-to-earth beauty about her.
I have to say, I remember watching MASH when I was a kid, and even at a young age, she had my attention.

One of the best shows ever. So many good characters.

I enjoyed the TV show a lot, and knew some people that were really devoted to it. I really liked the movie. Unfortunately, Sally Kellerman passed as well in 2022 at 84 years old.
