Woman killed at the end of our road

Last night two women were out walking along the main road where our road tees into . Aprox 9:00 when someone veered into the side of the road and struck/killed one of them . The other woman wasn't hurt but obviously very shaken .

The scumbag never stopped just took off . None of our neighbors knows who the woman is . So no one from our road . So sad , just out for an evening walk and then killed by some douche bag . I hope they catch the bastard/biotch that was driving an they see the inside of prison .

I learned at a very early age to walk on the wrong side of the road when there aren't any sidewalks so you can see the oncoming traffic.
This is tragic to hear about.
I have the same wishes for the driver as you, only worse thoughts than just prison.

A good friend of one our good friends (hopefully makes sense) was killed by a teenage driver several months back. She was out for a morning run with a friend. The teen driver fled, hit a tree and then fled on foot. Thankfully he was caught and plead guilty to a bunch of charges. On top of being stupid he was drunk/high.

That really sucks. Hopefully, the perp is caught and prosecuted. Unfortunately, they were probably under the influence of something, and won't get caught for that.

What a tragedy. Maye she rest in peace.

---

The driver was probably checking their mobile phone.

If the cops can pin down the time of the incident they can get a list of phones that were connected to the closest tower.
All they have to do is check every person's car for damage on that list.

Could a lawyer argue that's an illegal process? < Maybe.

It is 10 pm. I just returned from walking my dog with my wife and daughter. We had lights and were aware. Sometimes this isn't enough. I am sad about this. Justice might feel a touch better.

More info , the woman killed was pushing a stroller with her baby in it . Miraculously the baby is fine . And her husband was walking with them . So husband/wife/baby and female friend of the woman killed . Sounds like they may have been walking three wide with the wife closest to the road . That is an assumption on my part .

Apparently the police via interviews with the survivors have determined that the vehicle was a silver Ford F250 . Hopefully that leads to an arrest and conviction . That is a quite common vehicle around here so the police have their work cut out for them .

Isn't it a thing for you guys that if you're walking with a woman where there's automotive traffic (road, parking lot, whatever), that you are on the "outside" and she is on the inside? My dad taught me that, always make sure that you're between the cars and the woman.

That's how I was raised , to be between danger and the woman . But all the facts haven't been released yet so some speculation on my part . My wife and I drove to town about 45 minutes ago . At the end of our road when looking left there were still police marker flags stuck in the ground . I waited a minute in rememberance of the woman before turning onto the main road . So sad

The man walking nearest the street/curb goes back centuries. It was a road debris (think mud and manure) thing amongst other considerations, danger being part of it.

Info via Facebook: a suspect turned himself in yesterday saying he may have hit her . His excuse he thought he hit a deer . Good luck with that defense .

The police could write a "geofence search warrant" to recover pinged cell phones or the vehicle's infotainment center. Easily solvable. I hope the person who turned himself in is in fact the driver.
