How many of us got rid of the horses for the Porsches back in the day ..

LOL! I got out of a '66 Pontiac GTO in order to buy my first Porsche....is that old enough? 81 plus trips around the sun.

Today, first time in my garage since my nerved damage collapse of April 2nd. Opened and closed some toolbox drawers, looked at the '09 Bullitt mustang covered in dust...wondering if I'll ever be able to turn a wrench or drive again. Always hope, I guess...

I got rid of the horses for VW's. Porsches came much, much later. Unless I forgot one, I've had 7 of each and they overlapped at one time. Well, 1 VW along with 1 P car. The other 6 VW's were in my much younger days. They gave way to work trucks.

If you want to throw in other European and English cars (1 and 4) that leaves some Corvettes a long time ago (the horses, first car ever was a '57).

Not old enough for horses but old enough to noticed the Mustang II while watching Charlie's Angles.

I traded a 1980 Accord for a 65 MGB in 1991. Does that count?

I traded in my 1973 VW bug for my brand new 1974 914 2.0 back in 1974.

As a kid I really wanted a horse. My mom did the perfect thing. She let me spend the weekend with a family friend that their son had a horse. I always figured it was just the fun of riding a horse anytime I when owning one. We spent most of the first day mucking out the stall, hauling in hay, brushing the horse, checking her feet, and checking the fences. On day two we got to ride it for a little while, and back to shoveling manure. Dang that horse could make a lot of it.

I decided after that weekend, I wanted a go cart.

One bit of interesting info, right now there are more horses in the USA that at the height of the era of the draft horse period. Most all horses are for pleasure only, and very few people "need" a horse. I suspect sometime in the near future, our beloved ICE powered cars will be the same thing. Just used totally as toys.
